I wonder if any of them will yell the Xena Warrior warcry, in battle.

It will also come with standard issue velcro pannies and bras, granting easier access for fellow soldiers.

Won't do them any good when they're inevitably raped by their fellow soldiers who can't take the abomination in the face of God that females in the military are.

Aren't most female solders fat ugly dykes? Any normal looking woman would be too scared of breaking a nail to fight for their country.

Back in the day, the standard 'down range' armor that we wore in MSRON 6 was the KDH Maritime Combat Crewman vest. The Maritime Combat Crewman Vest is engineered for maximum coverage and easy donning/doffing.

The vest side cummerbunds wrap around to the front and are secured by a front gear flap that locks everything into position. The system has both an emergency cable release as well as a medical access point.

This system can be configured to allow for optional groin protection, lower back protection, deltoid protection and neck/throat protection. Optional flotation inserts can be added to add buoyancy for operating in areas with water hazards. It was an extremely comfortable and when loaded with ceramic inserts, can take a burst of 7.62 rounds. It's my go-to-shit hits the fan vest.

When I was back CONUS doing regular LE duties, we wore the Second Chance brand of ballistic vests. Lightweight, breathable and concealable, they were comfortably able to defeat most common handgun rounds:

Now, that being said, modern troopers wear some pretty impressive but heavy as shit armor that was not made to be worn for long durations in heat. Most 'Interceptor' styled vests give maximum protection but skimp on comfort, so I can feel their pain.

We need to follow the example of our Special Forces bros: Think lighter armor, more ammo and weapons.

sounds like a comfortable yet tough armor. in OP's article it seems like no female personnel have tested it before, hence chafing and being too big.

Or, hell, let's take a page out of our Contractor friends (think Blackwater/Triple Canopy) and go extra-light and comfortable, but packing overwhelming firepower:

We have to get away from this high tech, heavily armored mindset, which does nothing for sustained, low intensity combat operators but give them heat stress and injuries. The above illustration shows what set up is more than adequate for most theaters of war.

Unfortunately, it's a Navy/Coastguard armor only, due to the maritime working environment. Didn't stop the Seal/Delta guys from using a variant of it.

in counter-insurgency they aim for survivability. if they could, they'd make a powered armor so that operatives can laugh in the face of an IED explosion

but like you said, it's better for practicability and lightness. the insurgents wear like...sweatpants and cotton shirts to battle. Afghan national army have kevlar/flack jackets tho

MY fondest dream is to own a full set of Space Marine powered armor, with a bolter and chainsaw. Until that day, however, with modern ranged combat as it is, i want to be nimble and comfortable in a firefight.

    I dunno about powered armor.
I'd reckon you'd be moving slower than someone without it and enemy combatants don't play fair anymore.
They no longer face you head on, instead its more "Take a few potshots or hit a detonator and then hopefully leave to fight again"
Plus you would be a massive target for anyone.

But on the other hand you can look like Mars, the god of war.
Stomp around and blow shit up.

Space Marines in powered armor, IIRC, move pretty much about the same speed as they would unarmored, due to the 'black carapace' they wear under their suits.

But I'm just boring you with geek-speak, just watch the Space Marine trailer:

In the fluff, the armor would actually make you faster.

In reality, we may be able to make suits that enhance speed. If we were able to use computers to read signals traveling from the brain to the extremities somewhere say, behind the neck, you could process that signal and spend it to the legs/arms before it it travels the nervous system. The added strength would be terrifying and I bet most people would rather run before even thinking about engaging. You could also add a shit load of sensors that would make the person never miss at practically any range with any weapon. They could knock down walls and wreck tanks while easily outmaneuvering them. When you really start to think about what a suit like this could potentially do, they start to become terrifying.

Big problem right now is a power source that will last more than five minutes and doesn't sound like a jet going down a street. On top of all this, you would have to have backups for every system that would control movement out the ass. (Having a single wire that controls leg movement cut would SERIOUSLY ruin your day)

Not to mention how expensive a single soldier would be.

We are a long way away, but they could more more than worth it in small elite numbers.
