I wonder how long they'll be able to bring shitty products to market before running out of money.

XP was always great, I like 7 too, don't get me wrong, I actually had a slow ass Windows XP before I got the Windows 7 for $35. (My sister got the tower for free at her college, paid $25 dollars for the monitor, got the speakers from the XP, and I paid $10 dollars for the keyboard. I also forgot that the mouse was free as well.)

Licenses sold to retailers and OEM's, not ones actually sold to customers.

The biggest thing that pisses me off about Windows is the lack of backwards computability. I shouldn't have to install a bunch of third party bullshit to run a DOS game from the late 90s. Inconsiderate motherfuckers.

Also nobody gives a fuck about the new Windows just like nobody gave a fuck about 7 or Vista. All they've been doing is pissing people off for the past 10 years who were perfectly happy with XP

I dunno if using "was" is valid because I'm sure most computers now are still running it. From a home computer standpoint it's okay as long you disable all the faggoty visual-enhancements and make it so your folders browse Windows 98 style. Also the automatic updates and constant patching gives me the illusion of security so I can rest easy at night. I got no fucking clue what Windows 7 is about, and 8 sounds like it's from outer space.

Windows 7 rules and that is where I will be staying so long as 8 isn't massively overhauled.

    @uberfukken
7 doesn't have a whole lot of new features but it's less resource intensive. The big new thing in 7 was pinning applications to the taskbar so that the taskbar is more like a dock; you can think of it like they combined the launch bar and the active tasks part of the taskbar.

XP was just a Fisher Price version of Windows 2000 tbh.

The biggest reason you had for switching to Vista or 7 was that they FINALLY managed to get working 64 bit versions instead of the disaster that was the 64 bit edition of XP. On the other hand Linux has had working 64 bit editions before we actually had 64 bit cpu's in our desktops.

Nope, most desktops are running Windows 7. Vista only has a 5% market share (thank god).

i remember when my old work computer systems got switched over to vista... it thoroughly sucked ass and caused a fuckload of problems. i felt bad for the computer people because there were 4 of them taking care of hundreds of computers and if you put in a request to get something fixed on your machine it took half a week and they were running 12 hour workdays

    nowhere you can run.

Notice how I said desktop. On another note, the biggest Itanium OS is HP-UX which is, as you've probably guessed by now, a UNIX-like system.
Apart from Vista being a slow-ass resource hog, I guess you're right.
Let's talk about actual cool stuff like super computers.

XP was the best OS in my opinion. My desktop still runs it. My laptop runs the far less impressive Windows 7.

If it were not for the Office Programs (which every business uses), gaming, and the fact this shit is bundled into every PC sold, Windows would be dead already.

Vista is very identical to 7. XP was awesome but had to be put out to pasture because the only thing Microsoft has is selling new OS's (that you don't really need) and xBox.

Which, @uberfukken is the reason this shit is not backwards compatible with a lot of Apps (compatibility mode works like shit) - to force you to get a newer version of Windows.

Still, what could you replace it with, Linux?

Got my current PC during 7's reign. Not going to "upgrade" anytime soon, if at all until I get a new PC. I'm sure most consumers could care less and will continue with their stock OS for as long as they can. I like the recently updated sounds for 7 though, less obnoxious.

If you don't want a shitty OS, your only options are sourcing XP discs, Linux, a used Mac (don't pay over 9000 jewgolds up Steve Jobs' decaying asshole for a new one) or a hackintosh. I'll stick with a used Mac or XP myself.

The asspie gets what he deserves for fucking with a good thing (XP). Rest on your laurels and focus on teh HexBawks, Billy Boy.

Are you Linux or Mac? I'm running OS Snow Leopard on a 2007 MacBook with the defective case that chips and turns yellow, I bought at a pawn shop for $250, have an iBook running Tiger as a backup. Disillusioned with Windoze after I had a Gateway desktop full of Mariana and CWC lulz crap out, not brave enough to mess with Linux (yet)

Cool, I'm guessing your work systems are also Unix-like?
