I say it's because comedy is about telling the truth and not being a self-indulgent cunt.
Its a dead artform
Lulz = comedy
Are you saying lulz is dead?
I really want to argue against this, but the only two quality standup acts I can think of are Margaret Cho and Janeane Garofalo. The rest are terribly cliche. However, I've been to improv clubs and some of the women there were hilarious. I think it has more to do with what the mainstream is shoving down our throats than the gender being less comedic.
I'll be sure to watch both of them.
Also, I feel as if I'm not giving credit where it's due, here.
Roseanne Barr is better than 60% of male comedians out there, to be honest.
Agreed, and as much as I hate to admit it, Ellen DeGeneres was a riot.
I'm probably gonna get some shit for this, but so was Sarah Silverman. The early stand-up was fucking funny, I don't care what anyone says. After Comedy Central got hold of her it was all downhill.
Comedy Central was going downhill for a long time before that...
Still, there were some good shows as well. Take LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN for instance.
Comedy Central is a fucking cesspool. Everything they touch gets cancer. Out of fucking 20 years of programming history, I can only think of a handful of good things to come from it:
Stewart/Colbert (and to a much lesser extent Lewis Black)
Everything else was a fucking belly-flop. I don't know how they do it, but they can take a genius like Norm MacDonald, give him a show, and somehow make it suck ass. Carlos Mencia was a badass before he had his own show, now he's just a sad joke. The list can go on and on.
Quite possibly the most hilarious book you'll ever read.
Better than America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't?
Colbert's sad attempt doesn't even come close. Neither does "Earth (The Book)".
They showed some pretty awesome things actually, CC's pretty good about lifting good shows from other networks
Kids in the Hall
Saturday Night Live
There's more, just not thinking of them at the moment
Actually MST3k is technically a Comedy Central original, the station was just known as something else back then. Same network though.
I'm really only looking at their original content and the affects it has on whatever up-and-coming comedian gets unlucky enough to star in it. For every one superstar they made they ruined about 20 careers.
Recent studies have shown that most of the sense of humor related genes are located in the Y chromosome, in contrast to whiny bitching related genes which are found mostly in X.
There are common-denominator comedians which have always been unfunny to everyone except idiots.
And there are a lot of those running around quoting Jersey Shore and saying MST3K isn't funny...
These people exist, and they are breeding.
I'll fist pump to that
SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS
Because nobody's tryna hear about no goddamn tampons.
Biggest unfunny faggot on the forum makes his second thread about what is and isn't funny this week.
I'll take your word for it.
Most women make horrible comedians because their version of comedy is standing up on a stage with their hair done talking about how much they hate men and the hardships of being a slutty cunt.
