I just keep coming back to this for more...
Basically It's Dark Souls as a turn based RPG. This means there's gonna be a lot of RNG, but rather than being based off of skill like Souls, you need tactics to survive. As long as you remember to bring shovels into the wealds you'll do fine. probably.

I don't blame anyone in particular. I mean that every game they ship is thoroughly loaded with bugs, many of them game breaking. They also seem to have only one gameplay formula, but that's a matter of taste. Beyond that, I agree completely.

I assume you mean Witcher 3. If so, congratulations on a very wise purchase. If you mean Witcher 1, it's truly great, but CDPR were indie devs back then. SS2 is the one entry in the series I did not like. For one, it was way too cartoony for me.
I've wanted to try this for a long time, but I never remember it when it's time for a purchase. Maybe after Total Warhammer, but that could be a while.

I dunno. Bethesda makes some buggy games but I've seen a million times worse.

Hellgate London is still one of the worst games I've ever played.

Bugs are one of many problems, although personally, I've never seen bugs as bad and as numerous from a big budget developer. A small issue that is ever present is they just can't do animation well for the life of them. Especially bad are the animations for human movement.
Aside from the small stuff, Bethesda has released many games, but they've only made one. Sometimes it's sword and fantasy, while other times it's gun and post-apocalyptic, but those are just cosmetic changes to the same game.
I certainly wouldn't call it a good game, but what did you find so awful about it? Huh... odd that you would hate it, given your apparent passion for Diablo.

Bethesda is leading the front in normalizing game crashes on major release titles.

    Haha

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=flagshipped&defid=2757484

    Among the many problems were:

-All quests were either fetch x number of things or kill x number of things
    -Most monsters were palette swaps
    -Most zones were palette swaps
-The characters and skills were unbalanced
-Items would drop that would require a higher character level than was even possible to achieve
    -Poor level design
-It took a few months before the game could even be played without a crash every hour
-When the game crashed, it often didn't save your character or quest progress
    -Only three character builds
-The subscriber model was broken and people who paid were often billed multiple times
-They gave all the subscriber-only stuff away to the free players after a few months and didn't refund the subscribers
    -Patches frequently broke the game
-They didn't deliver most of the features they promised
-Clipping problems that Bethesda could never even dream of

Given that this was supposed to be the brains behind D2, it was shocking how ineptly made and designed this game was.

Oh yeah. Also, after you killed 65,535 demons, your character was essentially broken.

Well... all I can say is that I didn't play long enough to encounter many of those issues, aside from things like the palette swaps and terrible map generation.
How so? I ask because this should be interesting.

After you hit that number, every time you killed a demon, the game would freeze and would require you to Alt+F4 and re-login. Basically, it sounds like poor coding practices allowed an overflow to occur in the "number of demons killed" variable that the game apparently kept track of.

Really, wow. Now that is one hell of a bug, both in the game breaking sense, and that I've never heard of such bullshit. I'm beginning to understand your hatred for this title.

    Haha, that's awesome :D
Old doom had a different style of gameplay, it offered large exteriors and hordes of enemies. Nowadays, very few games will satisfy a player with craving for such large scale crowd control and management. Mostly shite like Serious Sam.
Try oblivion, it has a very subtle humor.

That's surreal. I remember that you had patch up Daggerfall to at least version 1.3, or you wouldn't be able to finish the main quest.. :D

As far as I know you can't finish the main quest in the Xbox version of Morrowind. Games just freezes when you enter the end zone, no matter what you do. And its on the original Xbox, so no patches to help you there...

Yeah, it think even Arena had some weird glitches.. I grew up on TES, but i don't think there will ever be bug-less game in the series. Not with Bethesda developing it, anyhow. :D

"Nice" doesn't begin to describe it. After I had finished it, I couldn't find any other game to play for months. Having just witnessed the brilliance of Witcher 3, all other games seemed terrible in comparison.

Currently playing Harvester, and was playing the Shadowgate remake earlier. This is my first time playing point and click games, and so far I really love it. I have a bunch of Lovecraft point and clicks that I'll probably try next.
