By Vonnegut standards it's mediocre. It lacks the vision of Breakfast of Champions, and the maturity of his later work, like Hocus Pocus. It's in-between in both a chronological sense, and in terms of literary merit. Still worth the read, if you're a fan like you obviously seem to be.

I'm not a huge fan of Joyce, TBH. I read that book a few years ago, and like everything I've ever read by Joyce, I felt the digging, re-reading, and extra work I had to do to understand what the fuck he was talking about, and/or driving at, wasn't worth the time I put into it. This was one of the easier reads by him, too. Like with Finnegan's Wake, or Ulysses, it's pretty much the same shit only more purposely obscure and annoying. TL;Don't Care

I'm reading Dune now. My favorite music producer had a track called "Arrakis," which made me decide to read it finally.

The Dune series is one of my favorite.
Many find it controversial but I find the second book
    dune-messiah.
to be both slightly better than and absolutely necessary to the first book. The ones following it start to get...

    ...weird.

I *love* the Dune series. Not sure what I think of the Anderson stuff, but the original stuff is great, even if Herbert was a miserable, anti-heavy-metal asshole.

All women are the same, at heart, but white bitches view asians as small and delicate, or else weird and too foreign. If you workout and get jacked, that's a surefire way to attract all women.

The time before last I was in jail I read this. They had several for some reason, everything is donated to the pod bookshelves so a lot of books are falling apart.

Finished reading the Witcher books. Pretty fucking good, even if they got a bit boring 3/4 of the way through.

Now I'm reading Neil Gaiman's stuff and thoroughly enjoying him, in a gai way.

+1 for Witcher, +2 for Gaiman. Which of his are you going through right now?
