    Ugh.
    Fine.

When you practice your zazen you must be seated with your legs inverted and back straight. Close your eyes and focus only on your breathing. Understand that there is no duality. All is one and one is everything. But one can also be two. Not everything that is not nothing is something and not everything that is not one is many. Sometimes in life many things are one thing and all of this together is two sides of one coin which is also one thing but can also be nothing. Continue to ponder this as well as your breathing. Do this at least once a week. When you are done practicing your zazen you must bow nine time to the Buddha. This is done to show humility. But remember: The Buddha is part of everything and so are you. When you bow to the Buddha there is no shame in it because you are bowing to the universe and also when you are bowing to the Buddha you are actually bowing to yourself. Therefore there is no need for pride.

To better understand this I would like to explain using a Koen.

One time an argument broke out in a zen temple between two groups of monks who had both adopted a cat and could not decide to whom it belongs. The master Joshuu saw this and picked up the cat and told the monks that if any of them can give him a reason why the cat belongs to him or why the cat should not be killed the cat will be saved. After the monks were unable to provide a satisfactory answer he tore the cat in two.

Later, the zen master Yoen was told of this and Joshuu asked him what would he have said to save the cat. Yoen simply stood up, put his shoes on his head and left. Joshuu said: "If he had been there the cat would have been saved".

And always remember, the Buddha is only nine pounds of fine silk.

I hope that clears everything up for you.

is it actually possible to rip a live cat in half with your bare hands if you're a wizened monk living on a mountainside on rice for the past 67 years?

Its amazing that Yennifer stays with him/gets back together with him after all the shit he flings at her.
Nevermind the fact that Yennifer has severe emotional problems and has the ability to set people on fire with her fucking mind.

Also Lol because Yennifer can't have kids.

I like heros with an air of 'I don't give a fuck' I think that's why I've taken to geralt. Roland in the dark tower books has a similar attitude too

Don't get too excited, bro...the first books are the best, all the series tend to go slowly downhill, till the last books are almost soap opera, sadly. :(

Ah well. At least the background fills in some cultural gaps for me- I'm playing the game 'the witcher' now and I have to admit it was a bit much to take in all at once without the grounding of the books behind it- loads of references to geralts previous jobs and old buddies now make a lot more sense
