Trendnet isn't the only company that has these flaws. You have been able to see unsecured webcam feeds for years just by googling inurl:"axis-cgi/mjpg"

    http://134.29.208.43/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.swf

    That is a good one.

It's even rumoured you can access somebody's webcam remotely and activate it, but of course, first you need to get a malware that hijacks the computer in that fashion.
even if you know for sure you don't have it, i recommend sticking a hunk of chewing gum over the lense, especially if you are going to have a jolly good bank.

And ever since i heard about these security camera's that allow you to remote access via the web, yeah, i could see this coming, ironically one measure of security destroys your measure of privacy and makes it easy for people to snoop out guarded places over the web before robbing.

I used to live with this really paranoid Brazillian. He had about 10 cameras covering all angles of the compound (which was admittedly someplace I would rob if I hadn't lived there). The only things that were ever stolen were two of the cameras.

Well, I think this brings up a good thought. We could really cut down on crime if there were cameras on all the time in people's homes, and in the streets. Britain has the right idea, but nowhere near the technical competence or technological ability to implement it correctly. With cameras in every home, we could virtually eliminate crime.
