Honestly it looks nice but I'm pretty sure US carriers are going to fuck it up in some way to acquire more jewgold, or even worse just reject it completely(RIP in piece Padfone 2).

Sure, unlocked phones are better, but if the unwashed masses can't get a "cheaper" contract version then it's bound to be ded.

You see it is an android phone with Ubuntu added so when you plug it in to a larger screen you get a desktop environment, in that way one doesn't have to sacrifice functionality.
A device designed to run multiple environments > Software that fails at multiple platforms.

No shit they're gonna try locking your phone if you buy it on a plan, you genius. Rooting an Android phone takes a couple of clicks and unlocking it is pretty easy too.

While I do not like the current situation with the need for rooting and unlocking your phones, it's still the most open platform you can get on a phone. All you have to do to make it completely open is follow a couple of simple steps.
I think you're thinking of Ubuntu for Android. Ubuntu for phones really is a native OS that runs directly on the hardware.

Glad you agree that Windows 8 fails as both a desktop and as a mobile operating system.

Meh, Canonical is doing the exact same shit as Microsoft with the whole unified interface bullshit. Unity is a terrible desktop interface.

Yeah, meant to say ded in America(which is ded for me because I'm an Amerifat)
Can't imagine carriers are as shit in other countries, so there might not be a need for unlocked.
