I used to call myself a fan of anime. And I still like a lot of anime to this day. I like animation, and I really like fantasy/sci-fi. The two go together like bread and butter, since it is a lot easier to do non-existant things with animation than CGI or live-action.

The first animes (animus?) I watched, outside of 4kids material, were Code Geass and Death Note, both of which I find to be very good. They had much more action and were much more mature than most stuff in our culture, especially with adult-themed animation, which, in the US, is basically pop-culture references and shock jokes. I also watched all the Studio Ghibli films I could grab my hands on, most of which created fantastic worlds that sucked you in and didn't let you go untiol the movie was over. I then watched a lot of super robot anime over the internet, most notably G Gundam, Gunbuster and Gurren Lagann. I watched some other stuff too, of course. Some were good (Elfen Lied). Most were mediocre (FMA). Some were absolute shit (Insert untranslated name here).

But then I got stuck in a rut: I couldn't find anything else. I looked, but everywhere I found the same anime but with different names. Then I looked at what was popular in today's Japan.

    I shat bricks.

I couldn't find one anime that wasn't even a PERCENT good. If the other eras were unoriginal, then the 2010s are indescribable. Of the shows that seemed to have plots, they seemed completely dull and unoriginal. But those shows weren't as common as the genre that is a bigger scourage to Japan's culture than Hentai (although that genre seems to have entered mainstream culture via soft core shows): The moe?slice of life genre. This genre is consists of typical people living typical school lives...but once in a while, somethin WACKY or, get this, SEXUAL occurs! Maybe there is an overused harem or supernatural element! But the most importnt thing is that the charcters enjoy a happy life and have love lives, which is what any desperate otaku wishes for! Fantasy stories can be tolerated, but only if the girls are really cute and there is enough upskirt shots.

Jesus "tap-dancing" Christ, what the FUCK happened? Even BLEACH and NARUTO, shows that went on WAY TOO LONG and have WAY TOO BIG fanbases are MASTERPIECES compared to this SHIT! If I wanted to experience a slice of life, I'd go outside! But the lonely otaku is afraid of going outside, so he (or she) watches this complete tripe, in a vain attempt to fufill his life.

And, of course, all anime of all ages have a MORONIC fan base. Nothing deserves thousands of pages of fan art, nor hundreds of fans who are willing to write fan fictions and dress up as their favorite charcters, resmebling a cult, only even dumber. If you just judged stuff from the works of fans, you'd think that good stuff like Death Note and Code Geass are actually about yaoi and high school, not power over death, mystery, mind control and giant robots.

After I came upon this realization, I gave up on anime, pretty much. Sure, this summer I went on an 80s anime movie spree (Robot Carnival, Lensman, Vampire Hunter D, Grave of the Fireflies, as well as the 90s anime Memories), but otherwise, I have just given up. I have ran out of anime. The 80s well is drained, the 90s well is drained, ALL IS DRAINED, with only SHIT left behind.

I could blame the industry, but they are in it for the profit. I blame YOU. Not YOU, as in every person reading this, but the Japs and the American otaku who created the market for this garbage. YOU bought the generic, ecchi shit. YOU accepted the hyper fans. YOU are a hyper fan! YOU ignored what little good shit there was! This is all YOUR fault!

So when Japan greenlights GENDER-BENDING PLOTLESS HIGH SCHOOL GHOST GIRLS ON THE BEACH...well, most anime fans today would like that. But still, all the waves of future garbage is on YOUR hands, you ugly, virgin, basement dwelling, white trash, otaku pieces of SHIT!

    Pretty much this.

I got to say that I don't watch too much anime and don't really even read much manga now. I don't know why I don't, but I just haven't found a good reason to or one that I like. None of the new anime or manga series interest me all that much. I guess I'm not really the weeb king everyone makes me out to be. Heh. Kidding.

    LOL.

The real reason is that most of the series were just too generic and the loli didn't make up for the bland plots of the new animu/mango. The exception is of course Shinryaku! Ika Musume~ for it's use of tentacle'd loli.

For once I'm not talking about you.

I was really hoping that was just some copy/pasta. If you actually wrote that being serious then that's just sad. Besides, it's a confirmed fact both those shows suck.

    Cool.

I have to say that the first few episodes (I forget exactly how many) of Death Note were ok, but not great or special in any way. They were watchable, which is probably the nicest thing I can say about them. There has been worse after all. Code Geass is FAAAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS~! Other than that, it's really only good when the one bishonen fag makes people kill themselves.

The fact that you checked whenever or not it was a copy/pasta CONFIRMS that you are writing this sentence seriously. That's just sad.

I almost stopped reading when he said that FMA was mediocre, it's wasn't perfect but was very good.

Goingback to the topic, I know you how you feel but is something that happen all time and in every media; let's take for example the western cartoons, mostly of the are "so randum and speshul"(and the reason of why american kids are retard), for every decent cartoon like Dexter lab or Regular Show there a tons of shit like Fanboy and Chum Chum.

My point is that there is always shit everywhere, what we need to do is make a treasury hunt and look for the best :D

The door goes to Nazi Germany. And it ends on a cliffhanger that is resolved in one of the worst movies ever. Sweet stuff, I am sorry.

I'm also sorry for not finding anything good. I have obviously have not been searching in enough bad softcorn porns, bad slice of life slock, bad Bleach ripoffs, and bad mecha rip offs. Let me see...nope, still treding shit.

Obvious you have not watched the manga's loyal adaption brotherhood, the movie was bad I agree but the rest of the first adaption was good.

Obvious you are pessimist and lazy person that cry instead of look for good animes, why don't look for old animes to avoid the trending ones?

Which is also shit. It was okay at best at first, but then it became FMA: End of Evangelion. I FUSED WITH GOD SYMBOLISM FTW!

    first of all.
    your a faggot.
that's number one. write that down on your arm if you have to.

now, about what you have to say.
the quality of anime dropping is an illusion.
i felt the same way as you at one time, because i too began my life as a weeboo at a vary high point.
the first anime i watched were:cowboy bebop, serial experiment lain, neon genesis envagelion and FLCL.
the common theme of them all was that they were seinen anime.
anime that is targeted at adults (ages 25-40.) after that i watched whatever was highly recommended to me.some of it was good and a lot of it was bad.
now here is the thing (pay attention now.) bad anime is made ALL THE TIME. (look up "agent aika" for me,1997... you'll see what i mean.)
but just like with every art, time has a way of filtering out the bad. shitty anime that are all the hype now will be forgotten in a few years and people just getting into anime will watch the good anime of this decade and think everything being made now (their now not ours.) is shit.
it's the same with music... you listen to the nirvanas and metalicas of yesteryear, all the def leppers are soon forgotten.

here is a test for you.
"i.me.strawberry egg"... ring any bells to you ? possible but unlikely.
it's a turd of an anime i was being told to watch REPEATEDLY in the late 90s'... it was considered by some to be "tha shit !" but honestly it was just "shit". now no one remembers it.

    my advice to you ?
remember that time passes, trends change but good remains good.
there is still plenty honest to god masterpieces out that you haven't seen yet.
look up my MAL page and watch whatever i marked as a ten. (my taste is impeccable.)
    or,better yet...
    stop watching anime altogether.
    that's what i did.

Anime is just fine. It's when these weeabo faggots go head over heels for a particular animu that it gets bad. Look at Naruto, the first season was bearable but then the weebo radar picked it up so the fucking author actually had to conjure up all the pieces of shit that was left in his money grabbing asshole and throw all his dignity away to be a raging whore for Satan's Cock and come up with fucking Shipuuden where he tries to make it all dramatic. For fuck's sake, one of the episodes with his fight with Orochimaru all they show is a fucking leaf blowing in the wind, and although Bleach tries to fill the pauses with lines, they actually make it more horrible with shitty fillers that are supposed to be "funny".
Maybe it was the same when I was a kid. Maybe I was just too stupid to see. But to me it was good at one point in my life.
