They spent money on that?
Tons. Paid for news articles about "misogynist haters," hired shills all over internet comment boards, deleted legitimate criticism while allowing nonsense sexist remarks to stand.
Let it sink in. Sony paid people to argue on the internet.
lol I came here to post that too
Where do I sign?
Man, maybe I should start working on the article again...
Looks like the all-female cast is there only to have an excuse to scream "Misogyny!" every single time somebody points criticism towards the movie.
And even then, looks like everyone involved in the movie is starting to realize how much they fucked up by being so rude to their fans. Just watch the ending of the "Scientist Man" video I posted to see McCarthy act seemingly regretful for being so rude to potential viewers.
Angry Joe literally shit fire on this game in his review.
IT'S A SUCCESS! FUCK YOU HATERS, GHOSTBUSTERS MADE ALL ITS MONEY BACK!!!
not really lol
also, most films make about 90% of their total revenue within the first 4 weeks and 95% in 6 (on average about 45% or so is taken in in week 1).
Fembusters is nearing the end of week 4 with 163 million. It had 50% drops on weeks 2 and 3 and its 3rd week theatre drop that I forgot I wanted to follow up on was 23%, which isn't a lot in percentiles, as I predicted. What I DIDN'T predict is that is would lose over 900 theatres in week three which, numerically, is rather huge.
It even lost over 6% of theatres in week 2, which is something you don't see happen much
(it's foreign/domestic split as of now is also about 30/70 which is something you only see in real stinkers)
At the rate it's going it'll reach abut 180$ unless there's some big holiday in the next few weeks (is there?)
with overall costs being anywhere between 250$ and (more likely) 500$ this movie has been a money sink as well as a possible career killer for some people.
Fun fact- some article compared this movie to Pixles, and looking at the numbers they are virtually identical.
Next one is Labor Day at the beginning of September, but I doubt it'll last long enough in theaters to get there
it might, but at that point it won't matter.
So the cast will start making strait to Netflix comedies?
Awesome numbers. This is great stuff. You truly are worthy of the term "Autistic for Statistics".
As soon as I'm done with work today, I will update the Article with all kinds of stuff. As well as start working on its overhaul.

This didn't seem like it deserved its own thread.
I wonder if these people realize the disservice they do to women by portraying them like this.
Ghostbusters is a failure with 70 million plus losses.
For those who can't read;
that figure is baseless speculation
More like "too careful speculation".
Feig did say that they'd need to make $500 m and that's clearly not happening with them being at $180 m now.
in the article he quotes sony's claim the the overall cost was 300 mil
EVEN if you don't take into account that this is obviously lowballing
and EVEN if you ignore the fact the have tos split the ticket profits with the theatres
300 - 180 = 120
That's almost double the losses
And it's still opening in a few countries but those probably won't help.
The sad thing about this is that Sony tries to make it seems this movie did okay by pointing at the originals apparently selling well this summer.
btw I went by my local theatre today and they've already dropped the movie
it's been playing for like 2... 3 weeks TOPS
You know what IS still being shown? Secret Life of Pets.
So now that Ghostbusters has failed, does that mean we move on to the new Star Trek TV series they're producing since they're already trotting out the "LOOK HOW DIVERSE WE ARE" marketing tactic?
