Start off with a quick sketch. Like all the other 6th grade art covering the front page of DA:

Then utterly fails with his best impression of top quality otaku garbage that would be considered amaturish in Japan:

Ugh, I hate that faggot's art. He tries to peddle his tutorials and how-to books to weeaboos while most of them can shit out better art.

Ugh...I bought one of his books (the shoujo one) when I was in middle school or so. When I got it home and read through it I got annoyed because he didn't draw like anything in the book according to the credits page. Plus I could already draw much better than most of the stuff. the only thing I kept it for years because I had already spent money on it.

Just like that kt coope. ugh.

I've seen a couple of Chris Hart books in one of the bookstores once (one of them being "How to draw animals"), and decided to check them out, out of curiosity, to see if they're worth anything. The conclusion? They're terrible. The drawings are sloppy, full of errors and the advice is crap.

Chris Hart is a hack who can't draw for the love of fuck, and anyone with an ounce of brain should stay the hell away from his books.

And these manga tutorials... My God, they're bad. But I guess weaboos will buy anything, just learn to draw KAWAII DESU shit.

This is the ONLY book of his worth reading. It did give me solid advice when I thought about trying a comic newspaper strip.

However, the art doesn't require much, and he admits in it that the STORY IS MORE IMPORTANT than drawing skill. Published back in 1998, maybe when he had discipline back then.

I would, but I suck at writing articles. Otherwise I would have made one for Hayakain for the lulz.

Why even bother? It's not like he has drama and everyone knows his books are shit already.

If someone decided to critique all of his deviations very politely and he mass blocks them all that would be a great start. Then we would think up of a futher Lulz Drama extraction plan. I admit I haven't put as much thought into this though yet.
Elsewhere on the internet he does act all butthurt to critics. Examples:

Cool quote from a Chris Hart thread on ConceptArt:

"I have a sudden urge to purchase every bad how-to-draw book known to man, get people to redline every image in all of them, and mail them back to their publishers."

Also, I think i had one of his books... I got it for Christmas. I think I looked at it like twice and never did like the art in it...

I've always felt the art wasn't up even to a decent tab. But when in my teens I had to accept simply because he was a few decades older and his generation (the Boomers) were always right. I saw others claim he is not a professional artist. He graduated from the California Institute Of The Arts but the author description did not say which degree he earned. I doubt any Art one, more probably like film.

    ...

I'm sorry, but what the fuck is that supposed to be? That skull looks horrendous - it looks like something that a thirteen-year-old weaboo would shit out. It actually reminds me of that shitty Tom Preston "Fresh Epics" promo drawing he made, with that creepy grim reaper guy...

And you just gotta love all those butthurt responses he made to that reviewer.

it seems that in the review, Hart scours the internet for negative reviews on his books and jumps into conversations or blogs to defend himself

"hurrr my books are award winning"

I thought it was a bad excuse, but his books teach very bad habits. They stock them in art stores and I cringe whenever I see kids looking at them. The covers themselves are unappealing and look like crap.

I then encourage all to not buy Mr. Hart's books but rip them off any reliable torrent and further encourage others to spread this word.

    Christopher Hart's Summary

I am the leading author of an extensive How-to-Draw book series, covering a wide range of topics from cartoons to manga, superheroes, animals, human anatomy, figure drawing and more. Primarily published by Watson-Guptill, the art imprint of Random House. Over 3 million books in sold domestically, which have been translated into 20 languages.

I host my own TV show on the Comcast Network, entitled, "Chris Hart Teaches How To Draw Action Heroes," which can be seen on the Activity TV Station. My new board game, "Cartoon it!" which I illustrated and co-invented with award-winning game designer, Joyce Johnson, was just unveiled at this year's New York Toy Fair, and gets released later this year. It is published by game and puzzle company, "Thinkfun." I am credited with a special burst on the box cover.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder then if any of his shows are on YouTube.

Then I found this bit of info:

So, in his first year at CalArts, cited right above, he couldn't handle more than a year of their hellish and foundational buildingblocks must for all top artists admitted on their moderately low acceptance rate (only 34% of all applicants break in).

He can't use the excuse CalArts being too expensive. We know how cheap even private insitutions were back in the 1970s.

I think it's safe to assume New York University had an easier path.

I think redlining for Hayakain was easier. :flame:
