Games I liked but others really hated for some reason: Deus Ex 2 and Red Faction Guerilla. Games that I like but didn't sell well: Alpha Protocol and practically half the games in my library.

    Extermination for PS2.

One of the first games I owned for the PS2 system. Scary as hell, for me anyway. Couldn't beat the final boss, however.

This one was fun as hell, too.

At least you got farther than me. I couldn't get past that one security laser on the boat when it was swaying left to right. I had an asspie like nerd rage and just gave up.

i can't remember if anyone brought this up.
deadly premonition is a pretty cool game, pretty low budget and it shows. i wish i had watched twin peaks before i rented it, it would have been a thousand times more enjoyable i think.
might go rent or buy it sometime, because anything like twin peaks is just awesome.

This is actually my most favored game, and it's a weird JRPG that has a ton of grinding. Most people disliked it because it was super grindy, weird, and felt rushed in places. However, I don't mind JRPG style grinding, and I really enjoyed the interesting urban fantasy setting that it sported. I also appreciated the multi-character/scenario style of story-telling(I liked that none of the stories had the chosen-one/save the world bullshit going on.).

However, this game might not count as much because I think I remember reading that it was somewhat well-received in Japan.

I loved playing this game to death, even before Japanese culture became overexposed in the Western. It was horribly hard but I really liked its setting and the design of the enemies.

I should try to play the second one again.
Both of them are somewhat different. The battle systems are relatively the same, but everything else is pretty different.

I actually never beat the second one, but I remember that it was a more linear experience. By comparison, the first one was mostly non-linear.
Also, second being fantasy, first being a weird hybrid of urban fantasy/sci-fi.

So, it isn't a retail game, but Dong Dong Never Die (东东不死传说).

So its basically a clone of Street Fighter AND King of Fighters made with the Tsukuru Fighter Maker engine, but modded for extra things like netplay.
It took the team over 3 years to make, since most of the graphics are done by hand, along with all the photo work for animating the fighters and all their attack movements.
The good think is it's entirely free, the bad thing is it's hard to find and its written entirely in Mandarin.
If you manage to navigate the menus, then its not really important since its a fighter game, so you don't need to fucking read, anyways. There is a plot, but its mostly a joke, and its pretty easy to follow even if you don't understand the language.
Now, that all looks good, but the reality is the balancing is entirely broken combined with the fact nearly all characters can get 100% combos or horribly easy infinity. If you know what you're doing you can juggle most characters and have hilariously short matches of a few seconds.

The reality though, is it doesn't really matter since the game is fucking hilarious and is great for dicking around and just having a good time with all its fucked up jankyness.

I have a soft spot for Rome Total War though it's really frustrating. I was expecting it to be more like Age of Empires when i got it but lo and behold it was shit, not surprising since it's SEGA.

Crysis, I loved the c4 and cloak . Run across the rope bridge while dumping your contents of c4 across it. Create a distraction on the other side and when they run across KABOOM lol

Don't ask me why but halo.

Painkiller with the prodigy playing in the background.

Sonic CD, I never owned a Sega CD back then when I was young, but when I rented it from a store I would always play Sonic CD and get that game all the time, I just loved it especially the music. I loved the music so much I recorded it off the CD itself, lol. I'm still a fan of the US soundtrack.

Some of this music is great for making love to, lol.

Sonic CD is actually one of the most loved classic Sonic games, even beating Sonic 3 & Knuckles in terms of popularity.

I agree though that Sega CD was kinda overlooked at its time. I regret not playing Snatcher when it came out during its year of release.

It's unfortunate that some games for Sega CD were so overlooked- I'm not sure if it was the price or what- Maybe because it was waaaay too far ahead of it's time too. Well, if you can say that. But yeah, it was by far my favorite.

This is true. It's quite popular among the ladies. Guy 'gamers' usually own just Madden and Call of Duty, women 'gamers' usually just own Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and The Sims.

I attempted to play Sonic CD a few times but gave up because I didn't know what this 'future' and 'past' bullshit was all about. I like my Sonic games to be straight forward with no silly gimmicks thrown in. Probably explains why I hate all of them since Adventure on Dreamcast from 15 years ago.

I like playing shitty Korean MMOFPS games.

Mostly because they require more skill than the average call of duty/battlefield game.

The first was game was pretty well-liked, despite the lack of popularity, people who played the first usually hated the second, and I doubt too many people have played the third. I think all three of them are still really fun games to play even to this date.

I'd hardly consider Phantasy Star 1 through 4 unpopular or hated.

Probably one of the very few reasons to buy a Multitap for the PS1

Way too repetitive and easy, but it held my attention for some weird ass reason.

I heard that Phantasy Star 3 is the most disliked game of the franchise for different reasons. In the other hand, I find amusing how Phantay Star 1 is often mentioned as the best game of Master System even though the console didn't break to be popular.

Also, I feel sad how Sega didn't include Toejam & Earl in their Ultimate Collection pack for PS3/Xbox.
