That'd be right. They're the security company who couldn't secure their own shit; and now they pull a legal an hero via "bureaucratic incompetence". Fucking LOL.

Mind you, anyone using a Symantec product deserves all they get.

Norton is good for people who don't have safe Internetting practices and who don't know the difference between a JPG and an EXE file.

If their source code gets released they will be done. It will literally destroy them.

Do people use Norton beyond their free trail?

Even if it were public, knowing this shit, I'd probably wouldn't use it.

It's the source code, not the finished application.

All they had to do is wire the $50,000 instead of trying to be slick and buy more time/work with the cops/whatever they were trying to do. Now they are screwed.

Once these source codes are reverse engineered, there are going to be a billion exploits. They are going to have to write new products from the ground up, and even then I don't see how anyone could continue to have confidence in a security company that would lie to it's customers regarding the security of their security software.

They want fifty thousand dollars for destroying the source code? For something that could demolish the symantec brand if released to the public and every other internet security company in existence, they're demanding next to nothing. This is worth hundreds of millions.

... and still symantec thumped its chest.

This attitude is a security admins worse enemy, All software (including drivers etc) has venerability's and the av vendors are doing their best to find them in order to increase sales by having the only definition. Not running antivirus is asking for trouble it should be one of many layers of security in your network combined with patch & firmware management for all applications and operating systems, Network Intrusion Prevention, Network Firewall etc

If you don't have any of the above your putting yourself at risk for no good reason, Its retarded.

The new endpoint security suite & remote admin owns.

You are a 5* fucktard who knows dick about computers. I dont care what os you use if you dont install antivirus you've lost the ablity to prevent literally hundreds of thousands of malicious programs and their variants from running and that makes you an idiot.
