they're too fucking expensive wtffff :negative: :negative: (and that emoji is pretty ironic right here)

@PastorOfMuppets doesn't see any problem and thinks this is justified and says they'll only continue to rise in price

well there's SOME hope, unfortunately for that niggerfaggot who probably invested all his money in fucking NES games he's never gonna play
    vg price charts nes 201803.

also pretty much everyone threw out their NES manuals due to being impatient little shits and not realizing they actually contained useful tips you probably wouldn't figure out by hitting buttons on the controller (like being able to pull yourself up a ledge in kid chameleon and hitting select in punch-out during intermission to regain health) and i look online and find that people are AGAINST MAKING REPRODUCTION MANUALS SHUT THE FUCK UP THEY'RE NOT COLLECTOR'S ITEMS THEY'RE USEFUL IN ACTUALLY PLAYING THE FUCKING GAMES

The other day I went into a game/comic store, they were selling these shitty NES games for $20. And I mean the bad ones. And all these Pokemon games are like $40, and the reason for this is because gamers are willing to drop $40 on a 20 year old game that may not even save anymore.

i usually believe in free speech but publicly saying old video games are "collectors items" and/or "rare" should be punishable by five billion floggings

What burned me up when I was 12/13 was how expensive GBA Pokemon games were, and when I asked why, it was because "they're so rare". My ass, if that were rare, then why did every 9-year-old I knew have a copy of Pokemon Emerald? Bastards.

Yeah but it's not 100% accurate and there's input lag

not on original hardware tho unless I get an NT Mini or everdrive or some shit

still, I'd like the cartridge to know it's legit

Materials, labor, and transoceanic shipping are factored into the prices of those reproduced manuals and cartridges. And then there is the matter of this is what people have agreed to spend on ancient software. As for the real deal, that's collector shit. You can charge even more for the rarity.

Any decent computer can emulate up to PS2 no problem.

You can emulate N64 on a raspberry pi.

I'm not sure how old your computer is but I think it's pretty funny you can't even get an SNES emulator to run proper.

You're the only person I've ever known that had input lag on an emulator.

This was like five years ago on a $200 prebuilt office desktop PC with some shitty AMD CPU. I have a custom-built PC with an i5 6600k now and I've used FCEUX for this thing called playfun and there's like a frame or two of input lag

Also even the old one ran mostly fine except for input lag. It didn't stutter or anything, just had a few frames delay between hitting a button and it registering.

If not for emulators, how could you play classics like these.

mmkay. First of all, I do have a problem with the rise in video game prices. it makes it next to impossible to get a copy on the cheap AND in good quality. Last I saw, Pokemon Emerald has not budged on price in at least 100 years. I mean its good if you had a copy stashed away in an attic somewheres and want to sell it, but otherwise it is bad news.

Second, I started on the PS1, not the NES. had maybe one or two good games, and the rest were only good for maybe skeet shooting.

I don't hate you dude, but please keep your butthurt in check. Maybe e-beg on Twitch or something.

Some emulators aren't the best, but most of them are highly configurable and are working fine with few tweaks, depending on your system. Don't be afraid to try few, you might end up with something that would far surpass your old system with perks like saving your game and accessing fun extras and menus.

I just tried Mesen with an NES30 which I use for my NES (it can be used as both a PC gamepad and NES controller) and Mega Man 1 (which I have the cartridge for) and there's no slowdown or anything (except for parts where the real NES slows down, and the emulator has even less which makes it less accurate) but there's like 3-4 frames of input delay and even more for the audio.

Again, I have an i5-6600k. It can handle 50+ tabs without slowdown.

Try to mess around with the settings, there is usually an option where you can set value for frameskip - there is predefined key for that in a lot of emulators, which you may have unknowingly pressed. And the default settings usually aren't too great either. I haven't played any NES or SNES games in a while but i just checked that... i'm using Snes9x and it's working great as it ever was.

Now that I think about it, a few years ago I experienced some bad input with an emulator but the problem turned out to be the shitty Chinese knock off NES controller I was using. After I subbed it out for a proper controller, it worked just fine.

    yes
Yeah, I know what you're saying, but the controller I'm using is actually reputable and it works just as well as (if not better than) the official controller on my NES. I even got the same lag with my Dualshock 4.

Also, idk if it's placebo but the emulation just feels a little "off" compared to the NES. Like someone played the game and reprogrammed it to be functionally the same. idk if you'll get what I'm saying and/or if I'm just being retarded
