Fuck it: I love the playstation 1. There. Said it.

I bought a playstation 1 when I was 10 years old (that was 2000, so by then the ps1 was actually already dying out, lol) and it was my first real console. I have some really fond memories of that console and ps1 games in general.

I might be the only one here, but I actually enjoy the raw 3D graphics the ps1 had, and sometimes I much prefer them over the pseudo-realistic shit we get thrown at us day in day out nowadays. And I much prefer them over the semi-blurry 3D graphics the N64 had.

To me the ps1 is still the golden ages of gaming, with titles as Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VIII, Spyro, Crash Team Racing, Vagrant Story, etc.

So how 'bout you guys, anyone emulate or play a ps1 games regularly?

How so? The Xbox was launched in september 2001 (march 2002 globally) while the ps1 was launched in december 1994 (november 1995 globally). That's a difference of 7 years between the two consoles, shit for brains.

It's. A. Different. Generation. Of. Consoles.

Ofcourse the PS3 is 'better' than the Amiga 500, but that' doesn't mean shit, cause at the time, the Amiga 500 attracted more fresh pussy than a white man with cash in Nigeria

PS1 was awesome. Great games, Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk, Bust a Groove, Chronno Cross, Marvel vs Capcom, Silent Hill, etc. Good times.

Xbox is a shitty console. The only reason people buy Xbox360 is because PS3 used to be so hugely overpriced.

Fuck yeah, PS1. It may not have been my first console (Atari & Genesis, lol), but it was still great. FFT, Gex, Spyro, FFVIII, FFIX, all three Crash games.......good times. I own the Crash games, FFT, and Spyro (1st one) on my PS3 now, and I recently started a new game on FFT. Still fun.

Are we going to critique actual PSX games or is this going to be another pointless console competition?

The Ps1 was great , the good thing about this console it was the huge wave of games to play, imposible to get bored, in my case in didn't own one(I got the N64)but my cousin did , we spend so much time playing tony hawk2, The king of fighters series and football with the winning eleven, great times.

The biggest 'con' for me about the n64 was that if you didn't like the popular Nintendo franchises such as Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, it had very little to offer compared to the psX. For me it seemed that the n64 pretty much revolved around the games Nintendo itself published, while the psX grew big because of massive third party support.

Also, by the time I bought the psX (2000), the price had dropped significantly and it was way cheaper than the n64. PsX games were also waaay cheaper than the n64 games. I remember seeing a copy of Goldeneye in 2004 that was still priced 40$. Insane

Yeah , Nintendo got some good games for that console , but the prices were expensive and most of the cases those games were low quality for a 64bit device, Even me I realized that the problem with Nintendo it was the cartridge game system ,outdated in just a few years by Sony who got the vision to realize that was the easiest way to create cheap games on discs...in the end that was people wanted . Goldeneye was a Classic and an amazing game, but 40 bucks in 2004 makes me feel sick

The problem was that no one really exploited the powers of 64 bit. I'll admit that the cartridge was limited, yes, but look at say Conker's Bad Fur Day and you'll see a game that's graphically on top of the PSX-N64 era.

I have that on the emulator. Sadly, cannot beat the final boss due to having to use that gay joystick button (that's often used in Mario 64) and you can't do it with up, down, left, right keys. ><
