So uh... the FBI stopped a criminal malware network. We're supposed to panic why?

    Idiot.

This only affects you if you have the worm.

Not everything is supposed to cause panic. Some people just like to have knowledge outside of specializations.

I've seen people get this shit, and I have this to say about it: fuck it.

It's a pain in the ass and none of the bullshit commercial anti-virus software does shit about it. This shit has been around for years, too and absolutely nothing has been done. Party Van needs to get its ass in gear.

Because they are going to turn off their servers that fixed the problem, which will cause the millions of (Windows using) people who are infected to be redirected to advertising instead of the sites they intended on visiting.

Though this could all be fixed with a live CD, the USA decides it will take the hard way out and redirect the whole Internet for a couple of years instead.

I thought he was implying that the FBI would selectively start shutting down ISPs it didn't like just for fun, which they should do, I'd love to hear the collective scream that would come from deviantart and furaffinity going down.

No excuse for ISPs that haven't complied with the requirement of cleaning up their servers while the temporary Party Van was in town. Although it would seem to me that while they had gone through the trouble of doing that, they would also have cleaned up the infected servers...
