So I just ifnished my 10 day waiting period today, and brought home my Mosin-Nagant, along with 40 7.62X54R steel cased bullets, cleaning gear, and a bayonet. Its an old gun, but its pretty damn powerful, I wouldn't rely on a bulletproof vest against it. Anyway, I'm now armed and dangerous, and the rest of you pro gun contorl pansies should shake in their boots.

I'm loving the mosin more than I thought I would. I bought it as sort of a cheapo check if i pass background check kind of gun. But when I picked it up, I notice that they guy put more than just the gun in the package. Itcame with bayonet, ammo pouches, carrying strap, and tools. I've also been researching the performance of this bullet, and a steel core one is apparently a threat to class 3 armor and SAPI plates. I will plan to buy more guns going foward, maybe a shotgun next.

Also joe, so ok we have axes, and I have a spear, and we both have guns. I think next logical step might be bow or crossbow.

Crossbow or bow sounds like a plan.

Oh, a dickload of companies churn out additions for the Mosin. Muzzle breaks, scope mount(besides the original Soviet style), rails, all across the board. Pretty fuckin' good for a rifle approaching 125 years old.

A crossbow is easier, and more punchy, but a bow might be better to test your skillz, and just be more casual/shoot more arrows with less effort, however with less draw force. So it really all depends, either way, some shit could go down.

I might get a shotgun next, or a .22 rifle just for target practice. Oh and, I wanna try these "varmint grenade" .22 hollowpoints that supposedly explode rodents. Its just annoying having this gun and knowing that if I take it anywhere (I'm close to multiple schools) or fire it off, I will go to jail.

I've been driving up to Icehouse to go shooting lately. It's federal land/national forest shit, so it's alright for hunting and shooting. If you buy a shotgun, make sure to take the tube plug out. A friend of mine bought a shotgun with a 5 round tube, but could only fit 2 shells in. After taking the tube cap off, we found a fucking retarded stopper in there.

Question, I'm looking at scopes, and I see a (2-7X32) scope. Does that mean from 2 to 7 times mag, and what is the 32? Also yeah, there's some retarded dowling on shotguns, is that neccessarily a law though? I thought it was only certain circumstances.

(2-7X32) scope mean 2x and 7x magnification, with a 32 millimeter objective diameter. I'm not sure the how's and why's of the tube blocker. I'm guessing it's just a manufacturers shipping thing.

I think it might be CA law, but anyway, if thats the case, I might buy this scope, they say the mount sucks ass, but the optics are good.

I think these two purchases will trick out my mosin adequately.

As for the dowel, I looked it up, the 2 round thing is for hunting (though tbqh, any animal sticking around after 2 misses is fucking retarded).

Ok, they are ordered, it will be awhile before I can get to a range to acutally TEST the fucking thing though.

2-7 usually means variable zoom between x2 and x7 magnification

32 mm, as Joe said, is the objetive diameter.

The ratio between that and zoom gives you the FOV (field of view), which the larger the better, cause it means you can see more "landscape", and thus is easier to aim
Also, bigger objetive means more light to the eye, and thus better performance under low light conditions.
This is usually related to the FOV thing too, but not always

32/7 (worst case) = 4.5 more or less, which is fine...not a big magnification, but adequate nonetheless

I've been watching some balistic performance footage of 7.62X54R, and its meaaaan, like defeat a bulletproof vest, go through bulletproof glass, and travel a fair distance. So excited to have it + scope.

Regular bows actually shoot harder and farther than crossbows.

I have a hard time believing that, no matter what lies Syrup tells. Trust me, there is no way you can outdesign a bow over a crossbow, though there may be individual models that differ, a crossbow has the advantage that you can make it so stiff you need insane mechanical advantage to cock it, which you can get with gears and levers.

ALSO remember, bows had a hard time with armor until the crossbow came along.

again, more archery bullshit, you can design a crossbow with a longer power stroke, its just a matter of engineering. A crossbow can use mechanisms to cock, a bow is limited by the human hand. Trust me, with the right setup, I can get far more energy into it.

This hypothetical crossbow would be huge, heavy and unwieldy.

says who? It would probably be a bit larger than normal, but I could also do stuff like increase the draw strength and attach a cocking gearbox, most crossbows still aim to be hand drawable, so I could just do that. Don't get indoctrinated by syrup's faggotry, there's a reason crossbows won out as the weapon of choice.

    thread.

With current engineering and knowledge of compound levering, they are pretty similar...

Hystorical crossbows were somewhat more potent, because of design issues...and above all, it was way easier to train a decent crossbowman than a good archer

That's a hand-cocked crossbow boi, I probably wouldn't be able to find one at the store, but I'd prefer a windlass cocked one, because you will be able to put RIDICULOUS power into that. Not to mention, a crossbow's trajectory is mostly flat, whereas a longbow has an arc to it, meaning that an arrow is going to try to penetrate whatever you fire it at at an angle, and a principle of armormaking is to make your armor such that if something strikes at to severe an angle, it simply deflects or skids off.

I also like the ability of the crossbow to be fired from cover from a prone position, with optics attached.

Lol didn't you see this thread? See that big honking near on six foot long gun with a bayonet on it? That fires a round capable of going through bulletproof glass and most bulletproof vests? Yeah. That's mine.
