...live a hundred years under a socialist government.
Then he would get what he asked for. What's the problem here?
i was going to say that, but Snorlax rae thread give my narcoleptic seizures and i fell asleep on the keyboard.
He would quickly realise it's utterly shit, duh.
When you say "socialist government", do you actually mean an actual socialist government or the IRL bastardizations?
Actual socialist governments. Id est a "dictatorship of the proletariat." The "IRL bastardizations" aren't based on socialism at all but rather state capitalism. The last remaining socialist governments, Cuba and North Korea, are outright shitholes.
Nationalism and Socialism really do go together, don't they?
They're both government sponsored ideologies that are used to blind people to reality and bind them to the government.
I still do not see a problem.
You're absolutely right. Everybody's a winner. Especially us!
i'm glad we reached an agreement !
So I get a guaranteed 100 years? So under that socialist government I would be immortal for 100 years?
I accept your offer.
Wait, does that mean that you get to stay the age you are or you have to age normally, so that the last 30-35 years are crap an the first 20-25 years don't make sense?
Also are you part of the goverment (i.e you're a high level politician) or do you mean like a prole or something?
this is your worst thread Snorlax.
I'd quite happily live in a true Marxist society. Anyone who has actually read the communist manifesto could tell you that a genuine Marxist society would be pretty damn awesome (if nigh on impossible to achieve IRL)
If only this was an educational board game.
God, if only we could send all socialists to North Korea or Cuba. That would be ideal.
I'm personally waiting for the day they can send Laissez-Faire capitalists back in time to the industrial revolution so they too can spend their collective childhoods working twelve hour shifts seven days a week in the textile mills. They can experience all the wonderful joys of crowded tenement living and uneven wage distribution. Don't forget the joys of being trapped for most of your life in a humid brick oven, sticking your easily breakable fingers between unguarded cogs and fast moving machines. Oh, don't mind the large stacks of flammable cotton sitting next to the coal burning engines, in the event of a fire, you and your urchin lot will be locked inside while the higher ups and overseers make a leisurely escape. Insurance pays us double if you lot die on the job, after all!
Why would anyone agree to that kind of life?
That was an extremely mercantile economy which utilized "indentured servants" (de facto slavery) which was in place to fund England's war against humanity.
The good thing about wading through page long posts in political threads by you, Snorlax Rae, is that I learn a lot of stuff about political subjects and history.
EDF is a pretty legit school.
yeah, but look where it got us! eventually we had largest empire the world has ever seen! If that's not a good exchange I don't know what is.
It lasted for five seconds and then fragmented, are you serious?
deadly serious. we started collecting colonies in 1704 with gibralter and only gave the chinks hong kong back in 1997. that's quite a long time. Also, all empires fragment eventually but it was great while it lasted.
O.k, maybe not five seconds, but I mean the Seleucid Empire lasted 250 years, Mongol Empire lasted 162 and the Roman Republic lasted something like 400 years.
Don't know if getting around for two hundred years after being cyberbullied by the entire planet since forever really excuses being on top for a couple hundred and the only advancements you have from your golden age is setting the stage for everything horrible that will ever happen this millenium and bringing war, greed and cowardice to all corners of the globe.
Sorta why I'm not very impressed.
The English Empire bankrupted itself, became America's bitch and now good chunks of it look like third world nations.
