Wut up, Bayatch?!?!?!?!?
@feminist jazz hands It looks positively amazing. It seems they've addressed most if not all the failings of Mafia 2. Why did you tag me, BTW? I mean I've been a fan of the series since 2002 but how did you know that?
Exactly! The main protagonist is supposed to be a Vietnam veteran, and it's set in New Orleans i believe? That's going to be interesting.
I remember you posting a bit from the soundtrack at some occasion. It's always nice to see someone having a fine taste.
Let me tell you a little bit about my relationship with Mafia 1. My parents bought the game for me after I forged my grades. I don't remember the exact specs on the PC I had at the time but I do remember the graphics card was 64 megs. I played it from start to finish on minimal settings and it still lagged like a motherfucker. Loading screens would literally be measured in tens of minutes. I fucking loved that game and more or less played it non-stop for at least a month. I must've had to redo the race level about thirty or forty times.
That's a story i can relate to... Even the fucking race and the heavy strain under which was my computer at that time. I knew few ppl who worked on the second game, and the way the told me, it was largely hasted by the producers who were pushing everything so they wouldn't miss the release date, and of course large sums of bonuses tied to that, but the creators, they had great plans for even greater things, and loads of fantastic ideas, for example, near the end of the game, you were ambushed by a bunch of guys at some place you were supposed to get to, by any means, and according to them, the script was so well-written, that you could arrive at the place 20 times, and they would always surprise you, from a different direction. But you could see it yourself, at the start of the game, there's a bunch of scripted events, and near the end, there are none. Shame. It was a good game, but it could have been better, should they have more time. But first installment Mafia.. that's entirely a different story. Mad respect, brah, mad respect.
So is this going to be current gen exclusive or will it be released on 360 too
Sexy box One, yes, they should release it pretty soon...
@feminist jazz hands Is there any word on whether the areas you conquer can be taken back by the enemy? Because it'd be pretty boring otherwise.
Haven't heard anything on that subject yet.. Here's some ... other stuff you might find interseting:
From a historical point of view, black mobsters in America have been used as auxiliaries for Italian mobsters. As I recall every time black mobsters tried to rise above their station the Italian mobsters would simply call in government favours and crush them basically overnight. You also saw the Italian mentality (which I can't help but agree with) in Mafia 2 in regards to non-Italians as they sell drugs in non-Italian neighbourhoods but not in Italian neighbourhoods. Despite what all the affluent sexual deviants in America think, drugs are very bad for the community.
In the other video it suggests that cops will pull you over if you're in certain neighbourhoods. If this is tackling racial issues then it's kind of a stupid way of doing since Lincoln is a professional criminal. Plus a black in a non-black neighbourhood (and a white in a non-white neighbourhood) is suspicious, especially in the early 1970s.
Paired with organized crime, indeed they are. I'm not sure about the absence of black mobsters tho, they basically had free hands in the Harlem, and in the black populated areas in the rural south, Italians were mostly active on the coasts and in the larger cities, like Chicago.
I'm curious how are they going to handle such hot subject, when they're openly saying they're gonna tackle it. This could end up being a real mess...
I'll predict at the end the end of this game after defeating the Italian mafia, the main character and his friends gets busted by the cops, money seized, fronts close down, serves maybe 3 to 4 decades, gets released and realizes the era of the mafia is over and the war on terror is on going.
...are you claiming that it will eventually devolve into this?
I'm guessing this song will be on the new OST.
Maybe, that's what I like about the Mafia games, the time periods.
It looks like another generic splinter cell reskin, unworthy of carrying the same name as its 2002 predecessor.
Why wont they just let the series die? This is just embarrassing.
Yes, thank you! This thread wouldn't be complete without an opinion from a demented syphiliac!
At least I am not making up words.
Oh, excuse me, mr. grammar nazi, just so you know, i was being sincere, it's good to have all angles covered(), but how else can i excuse such bipolar diversions?
Shit still ain't working, 5 days after the release date. This is possibly the last time i'm spending $$ for games.
Soooo how is the game?
The actual title should be: Dindu Simulator 2016: The 1960s Chimpout Edition.
And you shilled it so hard.....
almost a million messages?
Have you finally got it working? If so, how is it?
I might be able to tell you in about a year or so..

Lol, 5 patches later, and it's still unplayable. Their technical service dude told me that my processor is too wack, but that's sum ol bullshit, cause it handled Doom 4 smoothly, and last Doom has ever harsher requirements than Mafia 3. But from what i'm hearing about the variety of bugs and glitches, i'm almost glad for that, lol.. I'll try it eventually, as soon as it will be in working state, but as of now, i'm pretty sick of the loading screen. I'll rather try the Nuka World.
When it finally does become playable, please give a review ITT.

Ok, here are few thoughts. It's not a bad game.. some aspects are quite noteworthy, the driving physics are wonderful, i'd dare to say that it's even better than in GTA.. but controls, on the other hand, are unnecessarily complicated imo, for example, you have extra key for whistling and stuff like that.. The main protagonist is a mulatto, and it's set in the 60's, but maaaan, the shit you'll be hearing ... and seeing.. it's definitely not pretty, and it seems fairly accurate. Kinda like.. in Bioshock: Infinite(playing that know, thanks again for the recommendation ), but way, way worse. Try it.
