I'm been hearing about this Ron Paul lately and it seems like he's pretty liberal. I'm a liberal and have traditionally voted as a Democrat. I like where Ron Paul stands on some issues (such as small government for social issues) and I was wondering what you guys think and how he compares to Obama.

Limited to non-existent federal government. Non-interventionist foreign policy. Constitutionalist.

That's the shortest summary I can think of.

What's your take on Paul, IC?

Thank you for pointing out his main ideas.
Interesting stuff especially for a Republican.
I actually find his creationist views very disappointing.

He doesn't think the federal government should force anybody to do anything. He thinks it should be left up to the state government.

Yes, as Libertarian's are against the war on drug's. Also, they wish to cut expenditures and the war on drugs is a huge one. Legalizing cannabis would not only cut down on that but also bring in more taxes. It's a two birds-one stone kind of thing. Besides, a lot of Libertarians were hippies in there youth. I remember seeing on LP.org where they talked about it. But, It's not there anymore. Probably because elections are coming up and they decided to take down.

I still much rather prefer a nigger than a batshit insane old fucker, *cough*John McCain, like Ron Paul. I like his stance on the economy and the wars, he says that corporate tax loopholes for the rich should be eliminated and that the American army should pull out of other people's territory and mind its own business, which is one of the reasons why America is hated so much in the world. But so far as the other Republican candidates he's the one that makes most sense to me.

Income tax is a really inefficient way of gaining revenue. Most governments gain revenue through tariffs. licenses and sales tax. Not that I'm advocating Paul get elected. It's best that he doesn't, lest he save the US.

No shit. The only way is to shut down the government for at least a decade. The taxes can remain as they are since the government's revenue is at least two trillion a year.

I'd rather Ron Paul, but that's because my people are disappointed in the job Obama has done in his four years. Obama will not win, and there will be no other Democrat to run against him. So, I'm going to end up supporting my favorite Republican candidate, Ron Paul. pcg...

Lolwut? The Republicans are throwing out their best candidates over a social platform that isolates the rest of the country. Mitt Romney could beat him, if he sticks to the economy, and doesn't pick another Sarah Palin as his running mate. Big "if".

Also I feel like pointing out that Gary Johnson (self-made millionaire and two-term governor of a bipartisan state anyone?) is superior to Ron Paul on the issues in every way.
