Or Jigoku Shoujo for weebz. The anime's about a website that can only be accessed at midnight and by only those who labor strong hatred. They type in a person's name and the hell girl comes in a hallucination to give them a straw doll with a string. If they untie the string, the person will be immediately sent to hell and they'll go after them once they die.

The cases are fucked up most the time or are difficult to understand the reason behind the random persons' actions. There's also a plot in the last episodes of the seasons. (There are 3, each with 26 episodes.)

In season 3 the hell girl possess a 16 year old girl by kissing her, then every time the string is untied you have to watch a horrible sequence where the 16yo girl's back opens up and a cocoon emerges from which the hell girl hatches. All the while you have to somehow endure the 16yo's scream.

    Who's heard of it?

I know the song that's suitable for the scene:

I watched the first two episodes on Netflix a couple years ago. I intended to finish it, but started watching Monster instead. It was pretty intriguing, but kind of had the feel of something that begged to be explained, but wasn't going to be.

There are some loose ends in Monster as well and it suffers from the "let's kill every character by the end" syndrome.

Yea, I never finished watching that one either. IIRC it's like 90 episodes or something.

I agree, it just started to become a little too much like the Fugitive TV show to hold my attention.

Hell Girl is good, I just wish they would've translated all the damn seasons.

Not really. If I wanted to read an anime, I would be reading the manga it is based on.

I finished all three shows. First one was okay, I suppose. Second one suffered from sequel syndrome. Third one was yuri-tastic and worthless.

There were many uncomprehensible parts. Like the main character girl turns out to be a ghost.

The first season is pretty solid. They should have left it be. The second season was mostly stupid, but it had some fun moments (wasn't it the second season where the main character turned into a bee during some hallucination while they killed a girl?). The third season was a huge waste of time.

Maybe the second season can be considered acceptable, but the third sucked major.

The first season was blissful, and the ending was agreeable. The rehashes they call the sequels; they vary in digestibility.

I have the entire series on dvd. Season one was definitely the best, but most of season three was pretty boring except for the last or last few episodes.

I think one of my favorite episodes was one in the second season (I think) where the target was some guy dying from cancer who was killing the drunks (who had laughed when his daughter was caught in an accident) with a stabbing stick. Damn righteous. The ending to it was just tragically ironic.
