North Korean official is executed by mortar shell

    sauce http://www.sundaytimes.lk/121028/su...ficial-is-executed-by-mortar-shell-18175.html

100 Days of Mourning. No pleasure for 100 days or we will throw your ass in jail. No alcohol, no sex, no enjoyment of any kind, or you and your family will be in a labor camp for six months.

I laugh when people complain about ethical injustices. What's going on in the DPRK is on par with Auschwitz, favoring torture over death. Millions of people live in debilitating fear, and the only activists who care are the refugees. That's why I'll never take moralfags seriously, they're afraid to go after a real target. All our problems are invalid in comparison to their plight.

Kim Jong-Un is a fucking badass for ordering execution by mortar. Very creative.

You see, this is exactly my point. Why the fuck did the USA ever oppose socialism? North Korea isn't an economic competitor to the USA and it's much easier dealing with one group/individual than it is having to make deals with thousands or millions. This is in contrast to, say, South Korea.

They were a competitor till the fall of the Soviet Union. During the 50s, the economic situation between north/south were reversed.

Dude, they were never a competitor. There's a reason everyone in every socialist nation drove around in cars designed and built in the 1950s. Slave labour: You get what you pay for.

Actually they did get a lot done during that time. However, it was short lived and never meant to be, plus it only lasted like 10 years, then they started to default on loans and steal stuff and never pay it back, lol. And 10 years of progress vs. like, 50 years of being a deadbeat doesn't mean a hell of a lot either and they know it. They know that South Korea is better off than they are, and a lot of citizens know it too. But I think it has to go with the fact that they're afraid that everyone is like, a religious zealot or something. This guy got some North Korean comics and well some are interesting it does give an great insight into how they view other countries. Maybe I'll post them if anyone wants to see them...

Actually, it has to do with socialism not being able to modernise or advance technologically. Everything that socialist nations "invented" were nothing but copies/hybrids of inventions from non-socialist nations.

Hahahahahahaha. Ah. I love socialist propaganda.

The article I sourced was written by a South Korean historian and republished by the socialist propaganda site you despise.

If you're gonna dispute historians, this conversation is over.

The data is all over the place. It's difficult to find pro-DPRK sources but the shit is out there, I've read a lot on this and have ran across their pre-war economic prosperity on numerous occasions.

They fucked up when they invaded the South, and the Soviet's fall nailed the coffin shut because they were running the socialist market. During the 50s, the North was the envy of Asia.

How is this "economic prosperity" measured, exactly? All I can find is GDP (GDP per capita) that shows that South Korea always had a higher GDP and GDP per capita than North Korea. A few graphs show a slight dip (and parallel) here and there but nothing that would make it the "envy of Asia." Certainly not Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan or Japan. Perhaps China, Indochina and the Pacific nations.

Indeed, the graphs show that North Korea's period of "economic prosperity" happened during the 1970s/1980s, which is contrary to your claims.

You'll have to read what the historians have to say about the issue instead of relying on charts created with incomplete information.

Dawut? They were in a huge slump during the 70s/80s. And then the famine happened in the 90s. Their economic peak was during the 50s, I don't know where you're getting your information from. It's not easy to find information on the subject, but this guy has some unanswered questions.

The historian? Look him up yourself, the name is on the article.

Information simply does not leave that country. Not today, especially not 60 years ago. You have to rely on eyewitness accounts, which there are plenty of. Anything official that comes from the DPRK is carefully constructed to adhere to their best interests; i.e. under reporting to receive more aid, exaggerating their military strength, etc.

Keep in mind this "extremely poor" country also controls a huge chunk of the heroin and meth trade throughout Asia. If you buy hard drugs in Japan, there's a 60% chance it came from North Korea. Drug dealing is a state sanctioned operation ran by Office 39. Take all the money of the Latin American cartels and apply that to Asia, and you got the DPRK. They aren't poor, at least not the elite.

Wikipedia censors the information about their 1950s and 60s economy, seemingly skipping from 40 to 70 in one paragraph. There's a lot of things censored about that country, both by them and by us. If you want sources, I suggest reading. You won't find charts on this kind of stuff.

Hold on, you just wrote that the historian's studies are severely hampered to the point that he depends on "eyewitness accounts." Yet you have complete faith in his drastically incomplete (or outright fabricated) statistics? How does that work? Also, the fact that there are famines in North Korea show just how "productive" they are. To say nothing of their industry, which seems to be non-existent. You say they dominate the drug trade. That doesn't actually help the nation become more productive since the money goes to the rulers who don't spend it in North Korea (the use of anything but official currency is blasphemous) but use it to purchase foreign goods. Not that it would help much if they did use it in North Korea since North Korea has protectionist policies in place.

Top generals and party elite have been defecting for decades. The information is obtained through an interview process. Because of this, there is plausible deniability, however when multiple people provide the same information you can begin to consider it as fact.

Not much food when all your agriculture has been delegated to opium.

You're right, it's terrible for the country, the people are now subjected to the world's first mass brainwash social experiment. They're not allowed to use money. Being caught single a single USD can land you months in a labor camp, as well as your entire family due to their downright evil kin laws.

That's not the point though, the point is you won't find those line graphs you're looking for about the DPRK's money because :itisamystery:

Oh no. Now you have to show how and why North Korea was the "envy of Asia" during the late 1940s and late 1950s. (Preceding and following the war, as per your claims.)

No, I don't. I've displayed enough knowledge on this topic to not have to source a series of historians who only publish their shit in Korean. Take my fucking word for it, k?

Again, Soviet Union. They were propped up by the Russians the same way that Israel is propped up by the US today. The ironic thing is, the entire populace is indoctrinated into the Juche ideology, which stresses self-reliance and not accepting foreign aid. Most of the people still don't know that their rice is coming from the UN.
