This is a write-up of a coming model so I don't forget what I'm doing:

    SCARECROWS
Scarecrows of ab-earth are like regular scarecrows in many ways: they are simple constructs meant to deter plunderers and those things which would wreck its master's crops or hoardings. Built around a simple frame and bulked out using traditional materials, scarecrows are unthinking, unfeeling constructs designed for a single purpose.
Unlike traditional scarecrows, those of ab-earth are not made of wood and twine, but of inexpensive metal bodies connected to a basic servo motor system which grants the unliving watchman the ability to move, though awkwardly with jerky motions as the robot bounces upon a single pogostick-like foot; though locomotion is rare, moving only when ordered to take up a new position or in pursuit of trespassers, whom the scarecrows hassles. They are not fighting units. Instead, scarecrows utilize spotlights, sound cannons, and other means of scaring off or harassing intruders.
Along with its single "leg," the skeletal wire body system of the scarecrows is a series of hollow pipes and hinges, allowing the robot to make wide, sweeping motions with its elongated arms, swatting away garden pests.
Upon each robot are a series of hooks and loops which aid the owner in dressing his scarecrow up, bulking out its form using traditional materials such as dried grass, wheat, straw, or corn stalks. However, other materials can be used. And, commonly, each scarecrow is dressed in an array of rags and worn-out clothes.

    MASTER CROW

The Master Scarecrow is a unique variant of the common scarecrow that looms over its conventional kin and has upgraded servos and sports long scythes on the end of each arm which the creature uses to thresh intruders and slash through barriers and obstacles.
Instead of the standard single pogo-leg, the Master scarecrow has two hinged legs and is capable of jerky locomotion, walking like a man- appearing from the distance to stagger, sometimes causing its victims to mistake it for a drunk who has lost his way.
The Master scarecrow is far more articulated than other robots of its kind and therefore proves to be a much better fighter than its kin, who swat meekly at targets, while the Master model makes calculated slashes with its scythes and has been known to kick those who get too close. Also, the Master scarecrow can use its modified hooks and rings to grapple foes. Foes held in such a way can be drawn in close and held while the scarecrow delivers a specialize "gut ripper" attack, raking its immobilized, helpless victim across its chest, often disembowelling all but the toughest opponents.
Most unnervingly, the Master scarecrow is capable of unexpected bursts of speed as it presses its highly articulated body to the ground like a dog and scuttles across the earth at alarming speeds, often going unnoticed through the tall vegetation. Only a ripple in the corn or wheat is all that betrays the coming of the Master model.
Being a scarecrow robot, and like its kind, it is able to access the communal database of other scarecrows in the near vicinity. While normal scarecrows link together to provide optimal coverage of a field and use their link-ups to relay information to one another about pests and intruder whereabouts, the Master scarecrow seeks to use near-by robots to gather information on the whereabouts of potential victims.
Using a string of code unique to itself, dubbed the "Locust virus," the Master model can attempt to tap into near-by scarecrows and by-pass their safeguards, effectively reprogramming their operating systems, changing their inbuilt protocols to target human masters. Infected scarecrows will then turn on their former masters, or visitors, as they view the humans as the threats they were designed to protect against. While conventional scarecrow robots pose little threat to a healthy, and especially armed human, they often attack in numbers - many farms have multiple scarecrows in their possession (usually 3-13, depending on size of the farm, type of crop guarded, and regional pests) - harassing their human targets, using their noise and spotlight systems to pin-point their former masters, allowing the Master scarecrow to easily spot and dispatch its quarry. Many scarecrows might seek to hold down a human, allowing the Master to perform its special evisceration attack on the helpless man.

The Master's origin remain unknown, but it is suspected by those in the know that it began life as a conventional, but heavily augmented scarecrow, built for life in less hospitable regions where a scarecrow would need to be combat worthy to repell more savage pests; as such is the case in some communities, but news of scarecrow attacks keep farmers wary about outfitting their models with weaponry and advanced frameworks should their sentries get infected and turn on them.
From some unknown farm, it is surmised, that the Master scarecrow was given "life" when it became the first host of the Locust virus. It is not understood where such a specialized and malicious virus hails... but to create such a malevolent program would require intimate knowledge of both machine and script, and the workings of the scarecrow's "Inner System," the master program that governs the robots actions and supports all link-ups upon each farm. The most likely culprits would be members of the Elite, who are famed for their computer science skills.
Or possibly Locust could has been designed by an embittered farmer or hand, though these men seldom understand the inner workings of their scarecrows. Most only understand how to use the provided Action Terminals from which their robots are directed.

Should the Inner Systems of each farm be linked all together - a feat that is not only entirely possible, but fairly easy to accomplish - then it is safe to assume that once activated, Locust could infect every scarecrow connected, at once. Additionally, it would be easy for a skilled hacker to link Systems together without the [inept] farmer's knowledge that they were sharing a connection with their neighbours. The only sign of a shared connection would be continual glitches within the scarecrows of each farm, some models responding not to their master's programming, but to the specific commands of a farmer down the lane, as the commands are pooled and assigned [to the program's best ability] to each robot in proximity of the commands. If such farms were linked, there could be a whole host of sleeper sentries awaiting the kill command at the Master model's behest...

HINT: the Locust virus was probably made by the space-borne Elites, who covet the [inhospitable] lands of ab-earth.
If the farmers were slain or just driven off their lands, then huge expanses of lush and highly prized, fully terraformed agri-lands would be up for grabs. As it is, no farmer would part willingly with their lands. Many have been in their families for generations, being pledged to the original settlers, who braved nightmarish conditions in the early days of ab-earth, when the land was still a barren wasteland, barely capable of supporting, let alone producing life. And for those current farm-masters, their lands yield yearly returns in the millions, and because these farms play such an important role in feeding the populace, farmer's are granted autonomy and are basically free to do as they please on their lands.

If they were killed or driven off, their lands - by the laws of the frontier, by squatter's rights, would be ripe for the taking by any person or persons fast and bold enough to take and keep the huge agri-kingdoms.

It was never intended to be written up outside of this thread. It was just meant as a note for me, to reinforce the rarity of life giving lands and the covetous nature of men who vie for such spaces. Otherwise it'd would be pretty overt and hammer to include in anything other than a thread on Hard Gay Chats.

You should get it all tattooed on your ass, that way it's always there for future reference.
