I sense there will be much mad.

And just for the record, the theory of relativity is just that- a theory, meaning it can totally be disproved.

I remember reading somewhere that firing a "beam" of particles warps space slightly and thus increases the speed at which things can travel along that beam.

but honestly I don't really know, this is very interesting, and I look forward to the new theory that tries to explain this.

after all, a true scientist is just as excited by proving a theory wrong as by proving it right, all that matters is getting closer to the truth, not who came up with it.

Just read about that on the BBC. I thought neutrinos didn't suffer spacial-temporal constraints; like they could exist everywhere at once.

never heard that one, they just have extremely low mass (similar to an electron) and no charge (like a neutron)

don't you be hatin on what COULD be the first step on figuring out faster than light travel

and anyway, this is why, while predicting things with math is all well and good, you need to actually back up your theories with observations, still Einstein's held together for 100 years, which is a pretty good run

Meh, the point of the theory is not to be correct, it is to be slightly more correct than before. so by that logic, he has succeeded in not only being slightly more correct, but also in being wrong enough for someone news movie to be slept through in physics class. Even if he's wrong, his theories in part, got us to were we are today. A Nuclear Power house that could end the world with the push of a button. Great Job!

Nooo...the heaviest neutrino of the three kinds that there are must be between about a ten-millionth and a millionth of the electron mass

it's still similar relative to Protons, which make electrons look like almost nothing in comparison

Anyways, that's a really problematic result which makes tremble perhaps the most fundamental pillar of modern physics, not a slight correction, as 1H4t3etc suggest

And there is good evidence against, i.e when we see a nova explosion, the neutrinos arrive within hours after the light, not months or years before, as they will do if travelling FTL

Tomorrow we will know a bit more

yes, this is true, we still need to obtain more information before we jump to any conclusions.

Again, I'm afraid you are wrong

    Mass of electron: 9.10938 * 10-31 kg
    Mass of proton: 1.67262 * 10-27 kg

    Thats around 1/2.000, not 1/10.000.000

ok, so I'm not an expert on subatomic particles. now I know.

science was never about proving or disproving god, it was about finding out how things work
