The article seems to state otherwise...

But first, physicists must entangle widely separated atoms. Now, Stephan Ritter of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany, and colleagues have done just that, entangling two atoms in separate labs on opposite sides of the street, as they report online today in Nature.

    Because it's not.

Edit: Oops, looks like I should've read the article. But didn't the chinese already succeed in establishing a quantum entangled pair over 19km or something?

When the Economist talked about CP violation in one article (I cannot find it now), but whoever wrote it knew what CP was. Well all I know about CP violation is that everything we once knew about the big bang and such, is now out the window because antimatter is the complete opposite to matter, not slightly different as imagined by scientists.

Since 1928, at least, antimatter was already postulated as the electrical (charge) opposite of normal matter.

Man, I don't know what are your scientific sources, but either they are pretty shitty, or you don't get very well what you read...don't be Electric Yiff 2, please...

I get my sources from the economist. It seems to me that you were unaware that the scientific establishment though that matter and anti-matter were not complete opposites which is why after nearly 15 billion years since the big bang, our universe seems to be made out of matter and not anti-matter.

This small difference in parallelity is thought to have altered the favor towards matter at the beginning of the collapse of super-symmetry. Now since we know there is no slight differences in being opposites, we now have to start all over with the origins of the Universe.

You mistake the rupture of symmetry which led to a preponderance of matter over antimatter with those two not being the electrical opposite, which they totally are...by definition, in fact

And that assuming that there is more matter than antimatter in the universe, which is a big assumption...it may be well that it is just far from us...u know, the universe isn't totally homogeneous

Don't think of a bussiness newspaper as a good source for scientific stuff, mate...

    Three points:

1º The CP violation poses several big problems, and don't work under quantum chromodinamics, which is our most successful model

2 º It assumes that really there is more matter than antimatter in our universe, which is a big assumption, as I already pointed out

3º CP violation refer to parity assymetry (the P of CP), not electrical assymetry (the C), and even more, is a concept which arised to explain the (assumption of ) prevalence of matter over antimatter

We don't have a good theoretical explanation about it, and the experiments which seem to support it are arguably not very definitive

So it's a case of giving a weak answer because we have a problem, not because we have really a good answer

but the question is... does this allow for faster-than-light transmissions?

if so it'll solve A LOT of problems that we'll be having after we start seriously exploring space

Here you have a pretty good explanation about why it doesn't
