My favourite was the Pursuit of Vacancy. It basically tells the story of a single father who gets kicked out of his home and forcing to live on the street with his son without a job. He finds a job and manages to keep it but then one day, while taking his son to school and himself to work, he needs to go to the bathroom. He tries his hardest to find a bathroom to no avail, as everybody has bathrooms reserved for customers and he's too poor to afford anything. He finally manages to go into a subway station and tries to desperately open a bathroom door, only to find it locked. He ends up shitting himself in front of his child. Long story short: he loses his job, he loses his kid and he ends up shooting himself. This movie is set in the same universe as the the Pursuit of Happyness and the climatic scene at the subway station is a scene shared by both movies.
Gee, I think that made me laugh. No, wait, it wasn't funny. Never mind. How long did it take you to type that?
"Nothing but trouble"staring Chevy Chase (yeah I know) Dan Akroyd (YES) and John Candy (FUCK YES.) Complete cult classic, in that I'm probably the only one I know whose ever seen it. fucking :awesomesmall: Also for some reason 2pac and Digital Underground are in it for no goddamn reason.
I just did and it was ok. Because Nothing But Trouble was awesome, in spite of Chevy Chase. I think John Candy's ok, apparently he was one of the rare comedians/famous people who was actually incredibly nice and a amazing human being offstage as well.
A lot already mentioned, Lebowski, Withnail, Big Trouble In Little China, Major League. And although not a film, Bill Paxton. Candy was a hero.
Withnail and I is the shit, it has so many instant-classic quotes, and the characters are some of the funniest I've seen. Also, Crimewave and Evil Dead 2&3. Not really comedies in the classic sense, but man, those movies are FUN. Too bad Sam Raimi went on to make Spider Man.
