As if that's ever gonna happen.
There is allot of talk of the tech companies being regulated somehow, and Im glad the dems brought it up. Hopefully the U.S federal government will realize free speech on the internet should be protected in the same way everyone's right to the telephone service should be protected. It would get some people to vote for them at a minimum.
Yes, let's regulate the services and infrastructure of a private company that provides the use of its services and infrastructure at moreorless free of cost.
If your intent is to go on a social network routinely trawled by employers looking for damning evidence to turn someone down or fire them, so you can post nigger and oven jokes all day without getting cockslapped by moderation, you have gab for that.
Zuckerberg response was to demand the government take control of the internet
An American monopolizing something is un-American? American's having monopolies is the most American thing you can do next to hiking the prices of medicine, from $11 to $11,000.
No, they are data mining people and influencing elections. They need to be regulated more. Dont give me that lolberterian shit that its good its private corporation that has the power of the fucking NSA.
EDIT: and im not posting nigger jokes on facebook all day. srsly.
Deus Ex is right man.How tha fuck did they predict this shit?
I'm sure future historians will agree that it was lucky that Trump got elected. Otherwise this may never have happened.
One gets usernames and card information, the other gets emails and passwords.
why do you think zuckerberg is begging for regulation (as apposed to breakup like bell systems/ATT or anti-trust like microsoft)? is it because he's already giving government unfettered access and this would just make it official? is he feeling the backlash from all the conservatives getting banned and this would put a layer of obfuscation between him and angry fat trumptards? is it because regulation would create a prohibitive barrier into the social media market that would take out all the smaller competition?
if anything, it's all of the above.
Zuckerberg is giving governments all across the world free access to his platform and he is also doing what governments ask him on his platform(banning certain groups) this is true. Regulation in North America would help , if regulation happens it will be aimed at the big social media companies, not smaller ones so I doubt it would create a "prohibitive barrier into the social media market that would take out all the smaller competition" .
Facebook does not have the power of the NSA.
If you're so concerned about facebook having all this information and being able to disseminate ads everywhere based on that information, then nigga turn that shit off. Like close your eyes or something. Delete your account. If people were less apt to give information to facebook all willy nilly, this wouldn't even be a blip on the radar.
Getting angry at facebook is like getting angry at oddguy for getting everyone's dick pics. Maybe we should regulate oddguy, or split his account up and give it to different people or something?
Im not in favour of regulating odd guy. Im in favor of regulating facebook and twitter because people should be able to have social media accounts like how they have access to a phone. Unless they fuck up their social media accounts by spamming pictures of their dick everywhere.
Oh and I was going to delete my facebook but my relatives freak out and think im ded if I delete it, lol.
Even apple , inc thinks Facebook is datamining the public too hard. Why shouldnt regulators be at the front of the social media industry>?
Except you aren't entitled to a phone. Unless you're on welfare and somehow can't afford a cheap $80 phone from 2017 and the $30/m pricetag for service, you have to buy it, get the sim from the appropriate provider, and then get the plan.
They have your phone number. Delete your facebook.
My phone is from the 1980s and my relatives dont like calling me on it cuz it picks up some french guys signal and he just yells all day.
How do you expect me to make this work in todays fast paced, e - commerce world.
If you make a facebook, you have agreed to the ToS. No one is making you use fb, except yourself. Sorry, that's just how it is.
OK , but since Facebook has gotten so big and so huge, and since there have been some scandals surrounding it shouldnt they, google and twitter be regulated for the publics good?
If health care and financial institutions can be regulated, why not tech giants?
Doctors can kill you if they fuck up, and financial institutions, should they fuck up, can destroy and compromise your wealth.
As for the tech giants, you're just sharing stupid information. Just stop using their services.
No. But im going to use facebook less since Americunts like you think everything shouldn't be regulated and that facebook can data mine and sell whatever the fuck I feed into it.
Good boy. Now you're getting it. They have to make money somehow, and when you give them dumbfuck info like the pictures of the plate of dogshit you ate last night, that is information they will happily sell.
Your mom gay.
It would be really weird if Facebook become property of the government or a public utility. I guess this would be the beginning of officially sponsored social media platforms all over the world like the system China has going now.
Fuck off retard.
you put too much faith in the government.
If China already has it going then it's already begun. The stone is rolling down the hill.
The problem with state sponsored social media is China is already heavily censored so it's easier for China to "get away" with doing stuff like this.
Hughes needs to invest in serious social outreach to weed out the true American militants for the Facebook HQ Shoot-em-up (even if it's bound to happen). He'll need real heavy-hitters, not just another Nasim Aghdam.
