We're talking about what we did faffing about in a world of play-pretend, where dice were rolled to see if our faffery succeeded.
Moral of the Story: Never allow IRL couples at the table. Neckbeard or nothing baby.
If you're going to do that, it might be better to just switch systems now for everyone, rather than muck about mixing things up. On a personal note, doing that would also give my paladin a greater range of healing options, which is important because right now we have no prime healer. Not my call though. You might want to download this program to keep track of your character shit. That's what I'm doing.
You... ARE going to have potential players read at least a portion of the PHB, right? Without rules it's just freeform. Unless, of course, you intended freeform.
You're not really going to use anything from Paizo, right? They took a broken system and made in broken-er, and they shove SJW shit into all their products because they're so progressive and half their employees are trannies.
PC Gen is a character creator. It loads pre-installed rule decks and generates characters based off of them (D&D 3.5, PfRPG , etc.). You don't actually have to read one iota of anything Paizo wrote. One of the sources is Pathfinder for Players. Just load that up and create away. The tool will even tell you what to do at each level up. You can still keep the D&D 3.5 setting if you want. What me and Wraffles are suggesting is just a change of the rule system.
For instance, PLDs in 3.5 can only heal via the very limited Lay on Hands maneuver and the LV 5 mount sucks ass. In PfRPG they can also use the Channel Positive Energy move (i.e. the cleric's AoE healing spell) and have more useful LV 5 mount options.
It would still be a good idea for people to at least have a grasp on the basic rules of the game they're playing and the skills/tools at their disposal
LOL, TY, this made my day...
DnD is easy to learn for noobs when you have an experienced DM and a few veteran players. Tell you what, if you all fail to get this off the ground, I will. I even own a private forum for RPGs that could be used.
Maybe you can DM next time.
hit me up if you find you need a vet player on hand
I'd be happy to, mate. Though I still prefer playing. I was always DM with my old group. I very rarely ever get to play.
Well I can try to DM but I am really not familiar with the DnD rules at all. I suggest you DM this time because there are no veteran players that seem to know the rules so well.
We might get a DnD night this sunday if we have enough people.
@Radha the Buttwhisperer @Killerratte @leecher @corpsefriedchicken @Synecdoche @A Fucking Box
I will be there for a bit. Best day for me would be 13th of march, I'm off that nite (I work n got school other days).
We gotta work out exact time and dates.
I don't really ever have much planned on Sundays, count me in
Alright, first thing's first guys. I need to gauge interest. @Failstation are you gonna pass DM on to me, then? Be certain before you do it.
Everyone else, I need to know who is interested. Everyone post here and tag me if you're interested in the game.
Also, I need a co-GM. This forum is large (relatively) and if we have more than six players, we're gonna have to have two separate parties, and I will need someone to share the DM responsibility with me, collaborate on writing, and run Party 2.
I'll also need at least three weeks of preparation time.
Anyone who is legitimately interested, I will need commitment and everyone's easiest available days. I don't want any one hit wonders who will play once and then never show again. If you're a noob and just experimenting like you did with other men in college, that's cool.
Pathfinder SRD will be required reading. I'll need everyone to get the Pathfinder core rules E-Book if possible, as well as the Advanced Player's Guide and any other splatbook you wanna use to powergame.
I fucking expect power gaming out of you, min max that shit. I'm not limiting you except within the rules. Ask me for permission on anything homebrew, or anything not in Pathfinder.
look into the book of feats, its got some gems like unarmored Proficiency. book of aberrations if you want to make your legit tentacle rape monster.
Well we'll have about 3~4 players -> 1 party.
Can you do it by tomorrow?
I'll be happy to look into participating, but I have very limited knowledge when it comes to tabletop shit.
I can't make tomorrow, working a 16, but I can make next sunday (13th) any time after noon (eastern time).
Do what by tomorrow? Come up with a game? Fuck no. I need time to write, plan, prepare, shit like that, unless you had something ready. Furthermore I need to know who all is gonna play so I can get with them and help them make characters if they're unfamiliar with the rules. This isn't something that can be started overnight. Takes a bit of work. Even if I did pull the whole thing out of my ass so we could start in like ten hours, which trust me is a terrible idea, I gotta work Sunday anyway. Patience is a virtue with this.
Now, we need to figure out how we're gonna do this. Roll 20 is a free to use platform for playing RPGs over the internet. It has a chatroom with dice rollers, paint software attached to the chatroom that's perfect for mapping and visual aids, the whole shebang. The way I did online campaigns in the past was to have a thread on a forum where the narrative is posted by each player with regards to their character, and then the little details are worked out in Roll 20's chat. For instance "Garthfucker the barbarian cleaved the disgusting beast in half with one swipe of his axe" goes in the forum thread and "Ok, I'm gonna roll, got 15, do I hit?" goes into the chat. Finally one more separate thread is made to keep track of character sheets, whether you wanna just type them up or keep an interactive PDF going.
PM me about this, work with me on planning, we'll get this sorted out.
Well Radha said he can join next Sunday. Do you think you can make something by then?
You use roll20 in a rather odd/roundabout way, IMO
Maybe. I like to keep a separate narrative handy because none of you will take notes. Neither will I.
Anyone up for DnD this Sunday?
Yeah I can at least help people get characters made.
i can what time?
i might be able to do it this weekedn
