There's a really fun feature on GIMP I've discovered only recently. Super handy for churning out stupid gif-animations in just a few seconds. Launch GIMP and do the following:

    Filters > Distorts > IWarp

Then just select and adjust the type/amount of distortion and click on the picture holding it pressed down for as much as you want the image distorted. Next select the "animate" tab and have as many frames as you'd like.

Finally export as an animated .gif
Just be aware that the filesize bloats up very easily, especially with a lot of frames.

If it still turns out to be too large, ezgif optimizer is handy for compressing it.

    Here's the output

    edit:
I t-thought it was the industry standard and apex of image manipulation software. Started using it as a kid only because the crack of the real photoshop always stopped working after a couple of days. The clusterfuck of scattered menus is something I take for granted now.

lol, this already got boring, but here's a couple more:

You can get a Photoshop subscription for 10 bucks/month now. Or free at your friendly pirate bay site, even the CC versions.

I tried it later too, but I'm already too gimped by GIMP.

I'll try to hop on it again when I finally build a new computer. Because running it on Wine would be such a mess and I remember it being a heavy program.
However the last time I tried it, I had an early dual-core laptop. I've used Jasc photoshop too, but needless to say it was a long ago, lol.

Yeah no lol, Adobe has long given a big fuck you to Linux. Gotta be Windows or Paid Linux (Mac)

Damn that's PaintShop Pro before it was purchased by Corel. How old are you again

lol, "only" 25, but it was the one I learned to use at school, so I made a copy of the CD with none other than Nero Burning or PowerISO, can't remember which.

Looking back, all this old software isn't as good as I remember it being, maybe it's the same deal with GIMP, b-but it's free for legit.

Technology evolves. GIMP is good to get started with the basics of a real raster graphics editor (layers, transparency, non-destructive editing, masks, brushes, etc); if you're a hobbyist or have no need for more advanced shit, then it's perfectly fine to stick with it. Photoshop is the definitive industry standard, and you'll have the most bells and whistles and latest developments in terms of image editing and processing.

This is coming from someone who used PaintShop Pro for 10+ years and loved the shit out of it.
