I had been meaning to look up who did this song originally, since I was only familiar with the two latter covers.

    Tom Waits (original)

Bette Midler (swear I've heard a slower version of this but I can't find it)

Meat Loaf <--- superior AF, again, fight me

What can I say, I like good covers and remixes. A lot of them I just stumble into without trying, or usually hear the cover first.

Also I'm not going to post any Blues Brothers stuff, because that would be cheating since 99.9999% of their catalog is cover material.

The first two are obvious picks, but I like all three I'm posting since they all cast a separate mood over the lyrics with the instrumentation.

    Eurythmics (original)

    Marilyn Manson

    Emily Browning

I prefer the first n the last. But Mansons version was the soundtrack to smoking on the cross country trail in hs so it's got a special place too...

Me too, it's usually interesting to learn the history of those songs, and the backstories... I'm also learning way too much stuff by accident.

Speaking about Blues Brothers... i have a question. What do you think about the second movie.. and everything else but the original movie?

Here's a version of I'm not in love that I actually like. :)

And few more of my favorites! :awesome:

    lol, essay time...

I like the 2nd movie, but I fully understand that's a flaming pile of garbage and totally understand why many fans like to disown it entirely. I like to say that the original film has the tone of a (slightly) gritty comic book, and BB2k has the tone of the terrible Saturday morning cartoon adaptation of that comic book. It had plenty of potential to be a fleshed-out work of its own - there are two books of supplemental material that came out with the original film that flesh out their backstories. Many of the elements could have been kept in to please what the studio wanted (blame them for adding the little kid) and still used to match the tone and add to/continue story of the first. The original film isn't Oscar material either, but it had enough charm and interest to keep it popular on a cult basis. Instead of expanding on what they had, they just used it as a cash grab on a brand name (Dan Aykroyd has a bad habit of doing that with his IPs, doesn't he?) and repeat the first film beat for beat, but slower and with more people crammed in.

It's weird, but I like more for what it could have been.

Oh, and what little "fandom" there is are a bunch of unimaginative plebs for the most part. Seriously, look up any fanart or FB photo post and people just straight up comment with verbatim quotes from the movie. Most of the fanart is just copies of stills and promo photos. A good chunk of the fanfic is Mary Sues (yes, I contributed to that once upon a time, but have since deleted it). I've never seen another fanbase behave in quite such a Basic Bitch manner. but not a big deal all in all since they're nice (mostly oldfag) folks for the most part.
