To destroy Reddit, one needs break the confidence of the upvoting/downvoting system. The most obvious way to do this is to create widespread paranoia in the community. One way to create this paranoia would be to develop a Chrome and Firefox extension for users to blacklist each other. Once a user has been added to your blacklist, any comments page you visit will be scanned for their username and auto downvoted. In effect, this will make every comment they post on a page you visit get downvoted automatically, without any effort. This extension, released and publicized, will be too tempting for the Reddit community to not install. The thought of permanently downvoting anyone they do not like, forever, appeals to the petty and spiteful nature of the common Redditor. As more people install and use the extension, the effects of paranoia will begin to be felt. Users who have felt persecuted before will begin to blame their downvotes on everyone else for putting them on their blacklist. Soon this feeling of persecution will become widespread, and confidence in Reddit will begin to crack. Regardless of whether moderators of Reddit can block use of the extension, the paranoia will exist and grow. Over time, it will cause community participation from the higher quality users to dwindle, until only the lower quality users remain.
