Next big tech thing
Buy it now
Probably going to be great five to ten years down the line, first few generations are usually shite.
Micro-led televisions look more promising. All the benefits of OLED with none of the caveats.
Shame the resolution on the first couple of generations is going to be limited to about 4K for 55", which is good enough to be sure - but precludes smaller form factors for the time being.
5-10 years we'll probably have Harry Potter Interactive Newspapers
I like the transparent display technologies. They've been out for a while but I can see a lot of use for store displays, which is what I think the Micro-LED stuff will be used for mostly at least in the initial stages. It'll be a while before that tech becomes affordable. High end stores and convention booths will jump on it though
If you put one in a microwave, it'll bend harder.
Typically innovative tech starts off shit AND expensive. This isn't reinventing the wheel but it's still innovative.
Miss me with this shit if it's overpriced, because normal phones work fine already...
We have those, they are called tablets.
Microleds are already used in movie theatres, digital signage and the like.
The nice thing is that Samsung have apparently improved on the modularity of the panels since last year, and products in more normal living room sizes and form factors are just around the corner. As always, it'll cost you to be an early adopter.
CES was actually a bit boring this year, hopes up for some holdouts presenting something more fun at IFA.
I can't roll my tablet up and whack a dog with it so no we don't have that yet.
I've seen those 213 inch televisions but didnt realize it was just a bunch of panels stacked together. Kinda lame really, they've been doing the same shit with CRT monitors since the 70s.
The transparent OLEDs are cool though. Seems like a step towards consumer grade holograms or vehicle HUDs.
Just whacked my cats with my tablet for fighting in my bed, works just fine.
OLEDs are great apart from the shite luminosity and poor longevity inherent in the technology
When I saw the thread title in the forum list I thought this was a necrobumped late 2014 thread
Maybe wearing your cell phone like a bracelet will finally take off
Also waiting for 60hz refresh rate e-ink color displays
This is why you can't talk technology with people who use gaming laptops.
Wearables are pretty popular actually.
But are they still just devices that need to be connected to a cell phone? Haven't looked into much but If I could type with my thoughts I would get a wearable that was also my cell phone in the future.
Yeah, they link to your phone. I see a lot of professional types with them getting email alerts on their wrist.
People at my work use them at cash registers to pay for shit with apple pay
Fuck that apple shit I'm getting one of these
This is just like that time some dude invented flexible glass and that arsehole Tiberius killed him.
I'd rather have a device that actively shocked me silly every time I used it rather than give a single cent to Apple.
*200 000 times
That's like 2 years, right? Plus, one year in, the middle section will get scratched/dirty, so dead pixels and a white, unreadable area in the middle of your screen will be fun.
Ultimately, gimmicky and pointless...
@Cock hey man i was wondering how you've been.
these homos won't let me use the shoutbox so whats up dude
lol, I was wondering if you could use the shoutbox with that fagtag. They should make it such that you could use it but keep the fagtag, because it suits you, you faggot. How have YOU been?
this site is so off topic, fr we don't even need a shoutbox

@Edge_Beta I'm surprised your still here, quit pseudo-shading me nigga or i may lay a hand on you and your mother
make a sock, ilovemyowncum69, or something
How is putting LEDs on flexible plastic a "big tech thing"? It's just another case of gooks rinsing your money by taking your intellectual property and gluing it to shiny plastic and marketing it to morons.
Oh sorry did I write your? I meant our.
Did you flip your flip phone open and shut 274 times a day back when you had one of those? Because that is the equivalent if you think you'll get up to 200K openings/bendings of this thing in two years. Going to be generous and assume that you do stuff like sleep and shower eight hours out of every day, and that still means you'll be opening and shutting it every three and a half minutes on average for 16 hours a day.
You invented flexible OLEDs?
I mean the white man as opposed to filthy glory stealing lying kikes and other asiatic scum.
So you believe the engineers at a South Korean company (Samsung) are predominately white?
