    So a friend and I have been working on this(just me so far but he'll be contributing a lot more in the long run). I call it "The Clown Prince Rises", and it's an FPS based on the events at Theater 9 at the Century 16 multiplex in Aurora Colorado this past weekend.

    I still need to skin and script the AI characters (of which there can be a max of 160), but what do you guys think of the concept so far?

    *EDIT: I should clarify that my friend is actually scripting the AI, I'm just skinning and animating the characters(and loading them in-game for him to play with).

    This brings me to a question though. Once I have the models looking more or less human, should I just use random facebook images for the faces, or should I actually put the real faces of the actual victims on the characters?

    It's coming, it's coming. I just did some AI tests today. In addition to making their way out of the rows down the walkways and to the exits, NPCs can also just hop over chairs and each other to try and escape. I'll probably have a fair amount of both going on.

    Also, I plan to have an option to arm a handful of patrons, to show what would happen if 8 or 10 guys with guns started opening fire in response to the shooter, in a dark crowded theater with little to no idea what was going on or who the good guys or bad guys were(e.g. "if only more people had guns").

    We just did a full-scale AI test. The good news is that the engine does still run even with 160 NPCs. The bad news is that the framerate on my friend's computer slows to about 12 fps(mine is less than that, but this isn't a gaming rig). The number of patrons will be adjustable, so you can scale back to suit your preferences, but in order to have a fully packed theater you may need to take a performance hit.

    I'll release a video when there's actual game footage to show. Right now there are no weapons and the peeps just stand where the seats are, looking stoned. I need to script the weapons and make the peeps sit when they spawn. Then I might have something worth showing with a video.

    Ok, I'm going to open this up to all of you to help with if you want. One of the things I still need for the final product are civilian skin textures, to create a diverse and varied audience to open fire upon. This is the original soldier texture from which all of my skins are derived:

    You may recognize it, this is a model and texture that have been used in previous one-off games.

    In addition to this, I have several pdn templates for those of you who use paint.net:

    These have an extra layer that shows what each segment is(though its easy enough to figure out if you don't want to diddle around with Paint.net).

    I will happily use any skins that are even passable, so go nuts.

    When you say the polys, do you mean the UV data? The pdn templates have a layer for that, but if it's more convenient I'll just post a snapshot:

    Keep in mind, the civilian models are modified from this, and thus their UV data can vary slightly(mainly in the legs)

    Can it give you a HUD showing you things like;
    Hit accuracy.
    Number of fatal shots inflicted (headshots and such).
    Misses.
    Number killed.
    Number survived.
    and so on.

    Also what will the target AI be like?
    what will we expect them to do?
