Best film ever made.
Good thing weeabos have too short of an attention span to see the epicness of this film and ruin it with their interweeab-o virus.
does this count?
Fuck yes Steamboy
Man I love animated movies like those, their colorful and so awesome to watch. Man Akira was just awesome, esepcilly the final act
The general stuff they pump out now is the kawaii moe-blob nonsense. Why? Because it sells. However otaku's and weeb's have a short attention span, like m45on said, and I think it will change to something else here in a bit.
Cool, so why is it becoming like this?
Because. It. Sells.
what you are looking for is "seinen" anime.
like "shojo" is "little/teenage girl anime" or "shonen" is... you get it,this is a term for anime directed at males age 18-45.
My favorite mangas are seinen. I'm sure seinen anime are good too.
Grave of the Fireflies is perhaps the greatest argument for animation as a mature media. Let's see a weeaboo try to fap to this.
In case you haven't actually seen the movie, that image is taken from the scene where the main character and his 4-year-old sister come to visit their mother after a fire-bomb attack on their village. It's hard to believe that this movie came from the same studio that made this.
Any of the Marvel animu are pretty much non-weeb, especially when dubbed
They're all utterly terrible though, except X-Men, which is only fairly terrible
but it's not kawaiiuguudesuuu
I might've been able to take that seriously if they didn't play this at the end.
After an hour and a half of riveting tension and suspense, with the movie making you question if anything that is happening is real, they play this fucking song to end it. That's like ending Silence of the Lambs with Walking on Sunshine.
What do you expect from Japan
Cybersix (Japanese studio, it counts, bitch)
Sorry, couldn't help it.
I actually always wanted to see Grave of the Fireflies, I read about it and it sounded very good, so I put it on my Netflix DVD queue. Too bad they raised the price for both DVDs and Streaming so I cut out my DVDs. Guess I'll have to find a place to download it on the interwebs.
Also, once the Gyo anime is completed, it will also be a very adult themed anime, with no uguu~ and moe and kawaii -ness. I'm looking forward to it
So I heard that PASWG will be dubbed, I might watch it though. /loldubfag
Much better than my shitty Paint job, I approve!
I can say that Grave of the Fireflies is the best anti war movie ever made and a rare look at the "other side" of the very human World War II. Most people don't think of the "enemy" when they see a war movie. Too many war movies have that ra ra ree kick em in the knee attitude which is very one sided. To see things with balance is good and should be encouraged.
The part from the movie that stuck with me is the scenes with the older brother and his sister on the beach and as they walk back to the boardwalk they see dead bodies underneath it. I can't say that is the worst part, but it is definately freaky and sets the tone for the rest of the movie. Very chilling scenes mixed with images from the old Japan like traintracks and buildings. I think it is a quality animation.
This is a thing
this one is a real masterpiece...
i like this dudes work and how they often deal with the perception of reality.
